Small budget autumn wardrobe

Hi I'm after some help and inspiration I've lost weight and have a small budget so I'm looking to start building up an autumn/winter wardrobe. I'm usually a jeans and vest top with a hoody over it kinda person but want to change it up a bit but still be practical. I like dark colours but am open to changing up a bit I'm reasonably pale with red hair and am also looking for some boot inspiration too.
Would any one like to help or advise me please.

Im 12-14 and yer casual I'm out in public for school run and then home with my 9 month old so needs to be reasonably comfy. Also what do you all wear under dresses to keep warm legging? Tights?

I recommend replacing some hoodies with cardigans - I'm wearing a long cable knit grey one today which was from the Jack Wills outlet but Supermarkets (Tesco and Sainsbury's in particular) do great knitwear. Tesco also do some nice thick 3/4 length sleeve t shirts for about £6.

Try Matalan - sounds a bit boring but actually has some really nice stuff.

Also got a small budget and lost 3.5 stone since January. Totally different size since last winter (a "I'm not going to admit I may be a 20" size 18 to a 12-14).

Recently bought this skirt from h&m for £3.99. It's totally awesome and looks to me remarkably similar to the £45 hush skirts but without the stupid ruching. I also bought this skirt over the summer and working with opaques now.

I prefer tights to leggings (my 100 denier m&s pre weight loss tights actually still work thankfully) and primark velvet lined leggings if it gets cold. I find primark and supermarket tights shocking.

I'm searching charity shops for dresses and generally finding denim skirts at boot fair

I prefer marks jeans for comfort and fit and usually have one pair however mostly wearing primark jeans. Not perfect but do the job and at less than £10 a pair areally barginous. I'm still shrinking out of them before they are wearing out.

I've also raided primark's basic cardigans I'd really like some nice stand out jumpers now but haven't seen anything that makes me go wow.

Coats are crippling me financially atm, my old coats swamp me. I replaced my proper sensible waterproof with a trespass Misty coat off ebay and my packable down with one from tk maxx. But I could also do with a smart maybe leather-esque jacket or blazer and a decent winter coat or trench. But againg Haven't seen anything I'm keen on yet. I did find a very nice scarf in the new look sale though...

I wear tights under dresses, always feel mumsy in leggings.

I'd definitely go for tights under dresses rather than leggings if you want to look a bit more stylish. Definitely spend more on tights as they will last you. M&S ones are great. I've been wearing a pair of their control tights for about 4 years and they are still perfect (cost about £8). I find primark/supermarket tights really awful too.

I've also lost weight this year and for summer I did a bit of a capsule wardrobe which worked really well. I picked some colours (in my case it was navy, burnt orange and white) and I made a list of what I needed and looked for things in these colours which I could mix and match. I found most of it in primark! I'm doing the same for autumn/winter. Luckily I already have a wonderful coat which fits nicely, and I splashed out on some nice DM Chelsea boots in cherry red. Would highly recommend a pair of flat Chelsea boots to go with dresses as I feel like they smarten your outfit up massively.

But apart from that I'm on a tight budget. I've been scouring eBay and managed to buy a gorgeous 60's looking floral print dress which was brand new from Topshop and won it for under a tenner. Also a cord pinafore dress and another retro looking navy dress, and a burgundy dress too.

I've heard a few people recommend the M&S jeggings which I believe are quite reasonably priced, so that might be worth looking in to.

Leggings and socks are comfier than tights I think but the best tights I have are thermal ones from Primark, they are thicker than some leggings.
I love eBay for budgeting. If you track brands like topshop for jersey dresses that you can throw over leggings, that's both comfy and a change from jeans'if the mood takes you.

Pretty I'm considering getting some dark grey tights. I don't really suit black ive realised, but can't think what other colour tights I can wear! The pinafore dress I have bought is a gorgeous mustard colour from Zara (but from eBay)

I am a coloured tights fan - currently wearing a really deep purple pair, but I have bottle green, grey marl, and dark red as well as the usual black and navy. I also have a grey leopard print pair which I wear with a plain black dress and flat black Chelsea boots. I like the John Lewis tights better than M&S, the ones that come in a pack of two pairs for £10, and I also find Topshop and Oasis do good tights.

I like to look at some of the blogs and Pinterest for ideas (rather than waste £££ on magazines). Obviously you need to look about for blogs you like and be aware that they are often given things for free to push write about.
However I like the following (not linking but you can google):
doesmybumlook40inthis - home counties mum - is often sponsored but very upfront when she is. Not my shape, but I like seeing how she dresses for schoolrun/dog walks. she does have a far more exciting like to me

the Sartorialist - an American photo journalist - vv "fashion" he takes pictures of people in the street looking v ylish or often just odd - I like to have a see what crazy things people get away with.

MerricksArt - American sahm - sponsored a lot but in the US so usually irrelevant, she puts outfits together well with 3 little ones.

Pinterest - you have to register for this but then you can build up your own virtual pin boards of ideas. search on "fall outfits" for example and loads come up

I got the same boots as kazplus2 last week, love them!

I also bought a pair of high waisted skinny trousers in black from h&m which only cost €9,90 and they are so comfy and a much better fit for my tummy then regular/low rise jeans. They have them in lots if colors so I'm going to go back for dark red and navy I think.

I'm also planning on sticking new purchases in navy, dark red and tan/camel and matching up with the black, grey and cream stuff I already have.

Anyway, with regards pinafores, I saw cord and denim ones in Primark this morning, £12. Also weird polyester moleskiny stuff. Cheaper, but nasty fabric.

Toffee i have those H&M Jersey skirts too in a variety of colours and patterns. Thy took me through summer and i'll start with tights soon (am still stubbornly refusing to fully accept summer is over down here in the South East)
I much prefer it to the Hush ruched - i ordered and tried it but sent it back as it didnt suit me at all.
