Granny? Or Chic?

This for an English wedding in a barn?

I say English because I am not :)

I have dark skin, size 10-12. I’m 37.

I’m torn between thinking I could pull it off or it’s too old looking?!

I like it! Avoiding the granny factor is probably about how you style it. If you go with funky, unfussy hair it will work great.

I think that if you are lovely and slim and pretty it is a gorgeous dress but if you were overweight it could easily be granny ish.

HopeArden - you're right. I tried it on with my hair tied up and with my glasses and I thought 'no'. Once I'd taken glasses off and sorted my hair out I thought 'maybe'!

My tips to avoid it being grannyish would be to wear it with your highest most amazing heels and slightly undone hair.

Does it fasten together at all apart from the belt? You might need to put a couple of stitches in to avoid it gaping open

agree as well though that the colours won't be the best for darker skin. I'd go with darker colours or something brighter.

It'll be fine but in terms of colours you could do better. I have dark hair and although I don't have brown skin, more olive, I wouldnt wear it because of the colours. Sorry!

I think it's perfect for an English wedding. I like the slightly tousled hair of the model which makes it look very modern. With regards the colours suiting you it obviously depends on skin tone and not hair colour. My sister and I are both blonde but she has golden honey tones to her skin and I have pinky tones so we both suit different colours. I'm sure you know if this suits you or not ( re heels I personally wouldn't do a sky scraper heels in a barn! Recipe for a broken leg)

The barns that do weddings around here are pretty smart. Definitely not straw bales and hoe-downs! Have you checked out the venue on their web site? I think you should pick a colour in the pattern for shoes and a bag. It would be greatly enhanced with a hat, but it may not be that sort of wedding. I think wearing very bright "look at me" colours you are in danger of being more obvious than the bride so tuned down colours are more chic.

I have this dress and wore it to a wedding a few weeks back with killer heels and a clutch. It is so comfortable and very flattering. I have also worn it casual since with a pair of flats.
