Would you say h&m sizing is generally to be trusted or would you size larger or smaller?

Just that really. I can't be bothered to go in store so I'm picking out a few things online and would rather avoid the faff or returning/exchanging.

Their sizes for lower half items are bloody tiny! At least one size up from what you are normally X

H&m come up tiny.

Yeah lower body is really stingy. I find their top half stuff pretty much bang on, the everyday range more generous than divided which is slightly smaller. I'm a 12 and can wear a Small.

H&m is a nightmare. Very weird sizing. Always comes up small. Im a 10 in DP and a 16 14 or 12 at h & m! I bought size 12 trousers last week. Tried on another pair and needed 16!

It depends on the line, the Trend (pink labels) line is quite reliable size wise coming in slightly smaller as it's a fashion line so comparable to other European sizing.

The Divided line is aimed at teenagers/early twenties, fine if you're straight and narrow more difficult if you have a bit of curve, their basic line is all over the place as that's really just sourced from whoever will fabricate it the cheapest.

L.O.G.G. the casual/sporty-ish line is pretty reliable size wise.

They have another range with grey labels but I don't what it's called, mostly workwear but that one sits somewhere between Trend and L.O.G.G. in terms of fit, the sizes are reasonably accurate but tailored pieces may vary.

Their denim is a complete mess, I have fitted jeans of the same model in the same size, colour, etc. with vastly different results, so unless there's a decent amount of stretch in it it's a complete gamble.

I would opt for a 10 in H&M, in their 8 jeans fit bit are snug and I like room to expand, I'd probably need to try both 8 and 10 of other items to to see. If I go to the shops that surround my H&M - warehouse, oasis I take 8s

(I'm short, and straight and narrow)

H&m sizing is all over the place. I wouldn't buy online tbh.

I usually go one size up, especially for bottom half.

I'd say things with specific sizes are about 2 sizes too small, but anything that comes in S M L is surprisingly generous. I normally take size 18 and I used to take size 22 in there when they actually sold that size - now I can only buy the things that come in S M L but I can comfortably get into the L and sometimes the M is actually a better fit! Their tights are also incredibly generously sized.

I'm a tall size 12 and need a Large in most of their stuff.

There is no rhyme or reason to their sizing. You really do have to try everything on.

I suspected as such. I'm not even too sure about the quality but that said I'm after those loose-ish fitting jersey tops which I wouldn't expect to last a lifetime anyway.
I'm a size 12 - thin legs but breasts the size of rugby balls.

It's really weird sizing, especially online, I don't like to risk it!

I'm a 34HH size 16 a their trousers won't go near me but the size M in tops fit me really nicely Confused

Just be aware, they need ironing!

It's bonkers and I've never noticed any pattern to it. I always try on at least 3 sizes and never buy online.

ha!@Adrenaline.

I'm a similar shape.

I ordered a Medium jacket online from H&M once and it wouldn't have covered one tit.

Contrary to others, I've found their sizing quite generous! I've really only bought one style of trouser recently from there, though, so that could be why.

TattyDevine · 22/06/2016 19:43

I tried on 2 items (top half items) in there earlier this year. Same size, one absolutely swam on me, the other wouldn't even go over my shoulders.

I didn't bother trying other sizes - who needs that bullshit? A little bit of consistency, even if you come up large or small against other high street brands, would be useful. FFS.

That's the problem; their sizing is all over the place. Some of their things are hilariously massive, some things won't go over my pretty standard-sized head.

I bought a pair of maternity shorts in there, I was a 12-14 pre-pregnancy, 14-16 in maternity clothes everywhere else and a 20 in H&M!

They're odd. For me dresses are ok, sometimes on the small side. Tops are pretty true to size. Jeans? I won't even attempt, way too small and even the largest in store don't fit despite me typically being a 12-14

It is totally random. I'm a Topshop 6-8. I have shorts from H&M in a 6 and a 14 that currently fit me.
