How can I learn to do a french plait

Complete numpty in the hair styling department but I realised at the weekend that a french plait would probably stop me looking like I have been dragged through a hedge when doing outdoorsy stuff.

The front of my long bob is layered and when I tie it back the front works free and wafts around looking unkempt (although wafts sounds rather nice it looks horrible).

I have tried and failed a few times. Any great youtube recommendations?
