Space theme party

Hi all, I am a fashion disaster and need some help! Next week I'm off to a work conference that I've just found culminates in a space theme party.

What on earth (pun intended) do I wear?! I'm not sure I have anything appropriate, so probably need to buy something. Preferably from a shop in Leeds or surrounding areas, since I prefer to try on before buying and have no time to organise returns.

I'm very pear shaped, with narrow shoulders and enormous hips and bum. My waist is fairly small in comparison to my elephantine rear. I usually wear 14 on bottom (with a gaping waist) and 12 on top. I'm a Bravissimo confirmed 32F.

Any ideas?

When you say space themed, is it fancy dress or do you wear regular clothes with a nod to the space theme?

I want the metallic jumpsuit and I have no space themed party to go to!

Seriously, some friends of ours did this a few years ago and there's loads of possibilities.

There were properly hired costumes (think Princess Leia white dress and hair-bagels), metallic dresses, home-made costumes (e.g. normal dress adapted to be a Star Trek dress with pinned on badge and Spock ears), an improvised tom baker (with hat, long scarf and wig).

I think it's either, burnishedsilver! Not sure I'm brave enough to go in a costume, but a nod to the theme would be good.

I'll take a look at the ASOS dresses, but won't I need to order them online?

Wouldn't the jumpsuit would make my ample derriere look even more enormous? Confused I like the other dress, but the smallest size is an 18...

Can you still get deely boppers? Or whatever they were called!

There are quite e a lot of metallic clothes at the moment. I got a gold skirt in M&S Limited Collection last week.

I should probably add that I'm in a male dominated computing related career, the only female representative attending from my company and this is a party following a white collar corporate event.

So I'd prefer to look at least vaguely professional, if possible! Wink I certainly do not want to attract attention.

Google Star Trek logo and make yourself a Starfleet badge, maybe also make a brightly coloured "rank" flash to tack onto a shirt sleeve.

Would something like this work?

How could I dress it up?

Do your hair as Princess Leia! I did my dds for a space party was very easy. If you have a white dress or a long white t shirt with leggings and a brown belt around it.

Oh yes, the navy rydell dress would be grand, and a good price too.
Maybe star shaped earrings or necklace?

But the dress alone would be enough, especially as you don't want to stand out too much.

TBH I can't see many of the men doing more than a token nod towards the theme.

I haven't got enough hair to pull off a Princess Leia style unfortunately - I'd end up looking like Topsy!

I wandered to Superdry at lunchtime but couldn't find the dress. :(

I was hoping to avoid ordering online as inevitably the fit will be wrong, but what about this: m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/asos/asos-pleated-skater-dress-in-star-print-with-belt/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=5398748&clr=Starprint&SearchQuery=star+dress&pgesize=36&pge=2&totalstyles=115&gridsize=3&gridrow=4&gridcolumn=3

Do you think that could work with leggings, vest and boots?

Oh, forgot to add, I like that top burnishedsilver! But my size is out of stock and I couldn't see it in store.

Yes that would work, (you will need the deep space equivalent of a liberty bodice to wear with it though if you want to be low key Smile ) and it's a good price.too.
