I am wondering how they choose winners really, i am not sure they are very fair when they pick a random winner. I am on a populer beauty face book group that gets talked about lots on here and they do lots of givaways but when the winners are chosen they never show how they do it, i asked if it was done with a random number genarator but just got told it is random and i just think its a bit of a fix really like they just chose their friends.

I've only ever seen random number generators referred to.
If you've been told that was used why are you now doubting?

I do indeed recall you asking me this question in the group. I didn't realise that my reply wasn't clear enough for you

I run the giveaways and competitions at considerable time and expense to myself. The winners are ALWAYS selected at RANDOM using a random number generator. You are free to check the winners names against my FB friends list for example. Let me be very clear with you - I am totally transparent in this respect.

Thankfully in this instance I'm pretty sure I know who you are so I can deal with this but I'm disappointed to see another back stabbing thread when all I do is try and give something back to the members as often as I can

I admit I thought they chose people who post alot to the group.. As they're the ones who are more likely to post what they have won this promoting those brands.
How does a random number generator work? It picks a number eg 367 then you have to trawl through the 367th person who posted 'yes please'?

No. Winners are not chosen on how often they post and whether they'll then promote the brand in the group. Do feel free to scroll back through all the giveaways and you will see that this is clearly not the case.

It's threads like this that make me move closer to a decision not to offer these competitions. I don't need to, I just do them as I like to give something back to the members. And when I read nonsense in here that's not based on anything factual, well, it makes me think I just need to stop bothering

Favourite things - as someone posts and registers their interest, they're automatically allocated a number. This is then input into a random number generator. It's as simple and as fair as that.
