DD's Prom - she hates dresses!

It's her Primary school prom (I just don't get it but anyway!) she's a real tomboy, hasn't worn a dress since she was 3 I think. She said she'll just wear skinny jeans - but I think perhaps she needs to make a bit more of an effort, it states in the letter they need to dress smart or something.

Anyway, I've seen this & showed it to her, she said yes but wants to wear her denim jacket over the top! And I've seen these sparkly trainers for her as I know she'll not wear anything remotely girly on her feet like ballerina pumps or sandals! What do we think mumsnet? She has the most gorgeous thick long hair, yet she wears it the same day in, day out, tightly tied back in a low ponytail & has said its going to be no different for the prom, would love to see her with her hair worn differently but she's having non of it, I could be evil & hide all the hairbands, but that's really bad isn't it!

Just let her wear what she wants - school prom at primary is bonkers anyway and they are hardly going to bar her from entering due to trainers/denim jacket are they? Grin

Yep, I agree it's bonkers! There's no chance I would've made her wear a dress, I'd just rather her go & be happy & enjoy it. At least I know if I get that jumpsuit & trainers it's things she'll wear again, maybe she will end up in her jeans, the rebel! 😬

I really like the outfit you've put together, it will look cool and subtly glam with a denm jacket. Would she entertain the idea of coloured hair chalk or some kind of glitzy spray on her ponytail?
