Dubarry Boots?

I am fed up with getting either wet or cold tootsies so was seriously considering getting a pair for Xmas.

I do not hunt, shoot, fish or ride

I do however live in Scotland and quite fancy the idea of a pair of practical but reasonably stylish boots I could chuck on with skinnies or thick tights / mini and look forward to warm, dry feet.

Anyone have a pair? Are they are good as they claim to be?

DH bought me some years ago for Christmas. They're lovely, the best boots I've ever owned and I wear them every day for walking our foolish spaniel at 6am. Great buy, but ouch at the price; I've just googled and had no idea they were so much!

Love love them - got them as a pressie (couldn't bring myself to spend £££ on them). Would definitely splash out myself next time, wear them daily whilst walking ddog and its like putting on comfy warm slippers and my feet stay dry

Get them! I don't have them, I have the ariat grasmere. They've done 3 winters so far, like slippers from day 1. And when it snows/ice, they're the only things I don't fall over in!

I keep looking at them and can't justify it. I need something reliably dry that is comfortable as wellies always hurt my feet and my walking shoes although comfy mean I get wet trousers quite often. I don't ride, shoot or anything either and so have always been put off buying country type boots as feel a bit of imposter, but I do have to walk a dog daily and its really muddy where we are!
I like the Ariat Windermere's which are a bit cheaper, have put them on my Christmas list but doubt dh would even think to buy them!

Ooh thanks - good to hear they are as good as they look.

I know what you mean superbfairywren about feeling a bit of an imposter, but they look ideal for what I'm after.

I've looked at them a few times, but wasn't sure I could justify them, however DP spotted me looking online this morning and asked if I wanted a pair for Xmas. I think I shall say yes

Do it. I ride (albeit only once a week) and bought myself a pair for my birthday. I also wear them for country walks and for walking to and from work now the weather has gone a bit yuk.

Yes they're pricey. But worth their cost. Best. Boots. Ever. No more cold wet feet for me stupid ballerina shoes I previously wore to and from work

I struggle to get boots on sometimes due to a high instep, I would love a pair of Dubarrys, can anyone recommend a style?

I ride etc and live in my togis every day, tuffa also very good.

If you get dubes (as the in crowd call them). You need a Barbour , a lab and some tweed.

Forget the 'posh' connotations they are really the business. .. Im not even remotely posh but live in the country and have a pair of Dubarry Kildare boots , which i use for walking everywhere in the winter,also in the garden and have even worn to work sometimes in really cold icy weather.
They are warm waterproof, and look even better with age ,ive walked miles in them, always comfy , never leaked. They are in their 8th year now and are still fab, . yes they are expensive, but well worth the money IMHO ..

Mine are Galway; just had a little play on their website and they're reduced from £349 to £199 which, when you think how many winters you'll get from them, is pretty bloody good. And I've also just emailed the link to DH to suggest he could buy me some new ones!

Yes, galway model is great, their long boot socks are lovely too.
They stay looking good forever and are worth the money.

I have the Dubarry Galway boots and can't recommend them highly enough. I have never spent that amount on a pair of boots before but worth every penny.

I don't shoot/hunt/fish/have dogs but do spend hours on the touchline in rain/snow watching DC play sport and I always have warm feet. I've walked miles in them, never have wet/sore feet and they look good.

This is their third winter and I reckon I'm now down to £100/year boots so not so expensive anymore!

So following on from the thread, we went out today and I tried various styles. I fancied the Longford, but am too short at 5', so ended up with the Clare (which is tall but with more movement at the knees).

Oh and a sale tweed jacket in John Lewis to go with naturally

Thinking I now just need some more nice jeans for tucking in as many of mine have zips and it's been pointed out that's not ideal. That'll be my goal in the sales
