Huge scarves on small people

Went shopping yesterday & wanted a warm scarf to go with black knee length work coat.
All the scarves seemed massive almost like blankets. I am quite short 5'3" and think these would probably completely cover me!
How should these be worn?
Any suggestions for a scarf that would look good with my coat that won't swamp me?

Watching with interest.

Looked back at a photo from last winter where I thought I was wearing a scarf. Turns out it looked more like some odd ceremonial robe which completely swamped my top half! I do see other shorties wearing scarves which look chic though, so there must be a way of doing it!

What I find annoying is that when there's a new trend it's everywhere in all the high street shops & it's hard to find anything different if that particular trend doesn't suit you.

I'm 5'2" and usually go for a nice chunky snood, could that work? No dangly bits so doesn't have as much potential to swamp.

Girl's scarves from fatface are perfect for shorties. Top tip.

I agree with MyNameIsSuz that snoods are great. The only problem is that I always mess up my hair when I take it off.

Don't take the big scarves away yet! I haven't bought one yet and at only 5'8" I don't know how anyone taller than me wears a scarf.
They're all tiny! Confused

I've 'gone snood' (it's like going rogue, but warmer) as well. As much as I love my comfort blankets scarves, I've realised that short and curvy with a short neck and double chin doesn't suit masses of scarf. Sad

I did once buy a scarf that was actually longer than me. I loved the pattern of it, and it was lovely and cosy, but every time I wore it, it reminded me that I called it the 'never ending scarf' and it gave me a Limahl earworm. Grin

I have spoken to a friend about us one day starting a petite clothing range which will feature shorter length scarves, skirts with detail at the hem, and bras which are scaled to suit a shorter body. I'm a FF cup, and most 'substantial' bras mean there is very little gap between my chin and the start of the cups. Grin

I was also going to post the Lenny Kravitx scarf. Grin
