How to do my hair like Suranne Jones in BBC Ones Dr Foster

and here

My hair is similar length to hers but is naturally straight and just sort of hangs around or gets tucked behind my ears i.e. Boring.

I wondered what product/process/gadget I might need to be able to get that choppy, wavy sort of look on the ends and if it could be achieved on a daily basis?

I do a similar look with my straighteners. There are lots of tutorials for creating waves that way. Then lots of hairspray to set it.

A babyliss curl secret should do the trick.

Agree with stripytees, straighteners and a bit of hairspray is all you need.

Sorry, no help on the hair front but really like the necklace she wears. Would love to know where it's from.

I would use straighteners or large barrel tongs for a slightly softer look. I find straighteners can give me sticky-out ends to the curls, and curling wands somehow make my hair too spirally (and I burn my fingers all the time)

Barrel tongues (2")

She looks great since she had her breast reduction.

second the curl secret or when your hair is damp so almost dry really twist it into two twisted buns at ear height secure with a scrunchie round them and leave, sleep in them if you can, in the morning unravel and voila loose curls. I did mine last night in four sections and unravelled this morning to masses of curls! a bit too curly so will go back to one or two buns after next wash.

A curling wand (conical or not) will do it pretty quickly- mine is a Remington pearl something or other that was about £30. If you want it quite tousled, do some of the curls in different directions rather than all the same direction which is more sleek and uniform Smile

thanks all, seems there is more than one way to skin this particular cat, glad to hear it is do-able although I tried with my 15 year old straighteners today and looked more electrocuted than tousled but that is my lack of skill I am sure

step and pp do you put any product in your hair before or after? I am a complete styling novice and my hair does not like much stuff on it, can make it look unwashed if I am not careful.

Mine is the same so I tend to avoid most things but hairspray with my head tipped upside down seems ok. Salt spray adds to the tousled look but I found it felt sticky for my hair. I was told by a hairdresser to let each curl cool down by holding it up after tonging it and apparently the curls hold for longer doing this. HTH Smile

Use a heat protection spray before curling it to protect your hair.

thanks pp, will get a set of tongs/curler wand thingy and some hairspray and give it a go - why oh why did I spend my teenage years revising instead of practicing with my hair?

Very improbable but loving the series. I hope it's not going to be one where they leave you hanging in mid air and there's another series ext autumn.

watching right now, dear god hope it is not an unsatisfactory ending

boob reduction??? I have obviously been spending too much time looking at her hair and wondering why she is married to a beardy weasel

back to the original topic, i have heat spray and hair spray just need to order curling thingy, should also get my hair trimmed too, just moved to a new area and need a new stylist - arrrgh, stressful first world problem

Her hair is lovely but her makeup is bizarre.

I so hope the series doesn't have a rubbish end. It's all a bit far-fetched to date but very watchable. I too have been focused mainly on her hair and also admiring their kitchen x

if i use curl perfect I use a bit of heat protection spray, if I am using scrunchie then no nothing at all, comes out all shiney and bouncy.
