Office wear..mostly shirts but also trousers advice

I need new work clothes. I'm not very good at clothes shopping. I'm over weight and looking for clothes upsets me

But I'd like some long loose shirts. I've got one from &S which is nice. But other ones I've tried look boxy and unflattering
Is it the material that makes a difference? What am I looking for?

Whilst I'm at it, I need new trousers. I like boot cut or loose fit. Again, what do I need to look for which is flattering?
