my poor face

Somehow I got plant fertilizer and moss/weed killer on my face yesterday. Think I got it on my (gloved) hand then touched my face. Only noticed when it started to burn and sting.
Washed with loads of cool water and was ok. Just just taken my makeup off (skin felt really sore) and huge bits of the top layer of skin have come off really painful and its leaking a clear fluid (not loads but if I don't dab every 10 mins it runs down my face) and small blood dots.
Its on the right side, worse by my nose and awful on the "smile line" from nose to side of mouth. Hurts to smile/yawn/eat.....
What can I put on it?!
Looks bad and hurts. have tried to attach photo but can't (tbh it would give people nightmares!) Will attach photo if I can.

I'd go to my local Pharmacy and speak to a pharmacist re best plan. You have a chemical burn and it is serous fluid leaking out. You may even need to go to A and E

I second Pat's advice. Don't leave it to chance when it's the skin on your face. It's very delicate and somewhere you wouldn't want scarring. Do please go to the pharmacy!

DP is a paramedic and has ruled out needing to go to a&e.......according to him its nothing major. He's now showing his love and kindness by going rock climbing then to the pub! Miles from a pharmacy (Sunday evening I don't think it'll be open)
any soothing cream recommendations? I have a large hoard but have no idea what will sooth and what will smart! Assuming natural creams will be better......?

I'd be very afraid to put anything on my face with out advice. I work in ICU and with a chemical burn we would wash it thoroughly and apply cold damp clothes to ease the pain until the dorms or surgeons come. May be try flamazine.

Its just the outer edges are starting to dry up and crack.

I have no experience of aloe gel. As long as it doesn't sit like a crust on top I guess it's fine. Just be careful with hygiene

Put the aloe on (washed hands thought and applied carefully )
was amazing at first but then went tight and hard so I've washed it off

I would give NHS 101 a call. Is there a walk-in clinic near you - not a matter for A&E but in my neck of the woods we are lucky enough to have weekend walk in for when there's no GP. Otherwise see if you can get to the GP tomorrow?

The only time I had an allergy and skin actually peeled off, I used Salcura but I feel like a doc should see this. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Natural creams won't necessarily be better. If you have something like Avene Cicalfate or LRP Cicaplast should be fine.

But if it's just the v top layer and your husband isn't fussed about it I'd leave it alone to dry out. Generally with skin probs if it's wet, you want to dry it out and if it's dry, you want to wet it. So I'd leave it alone. Poor you.

I might call this helpline, www.npis.org, knowing the name of the fertilizer and weedkiller would help. Probably you cannot do much at this point about it but you'd get some peace of mind.

I've called similar helplines in the past and they are amazingly helpful and knowledgeful.

According to the label I can expect severe irritation but It doesn't say "seek immediate medical help" like other bottles......

I've had laser treatment on the thread veins on my face (as rosacea management) by a consultant dermatologist. She slathered aloe vera on afterwards, told me to buy some and put it in the fridge and keep putting it on. I have also used it on other burns. I think it would probably be okay but you need to put loads on. BUT I would definitely seek professional advice first. I would also drink loads of water - keep hydrated. Your poor thing.

Any knowledgeable skin people around? Its dried and made scale like patches but is cracking and bleeding around the scales

Leave it alone, it will heal faster on its own than if you kept putting creams on it.

I've always heard that when you have a burn you should never put anything on it apart from cling film, which I don't think will be much use in this instance.

Poor you. I would probably want to see a doctor rather than a pharmacist if I were you.

If I was your friend I'd be shoving you in a car and taking you to a walk-in clinic. This is your face we're talking about. If nothing else but to put your mind at rest.

What did your DH suggest as a treatment and has it gotten worse since he last saw it?

By putting creams on it you risk introducing bacteria and it might become infected. I would just leave it to air tbh unless it needs a dressing, then I would go to a walk in or see the practice nurse.
