Help please recommend pool/beach footwear for flat feet!

DH has a knee injury. Went for physio and the physiotherapist told him he has flat feet. He has special orthotic insoles for his shoes which should help. But we're going on hols next week and the kids have a lovely pair of Havianas for Father's Day and the physio told him under no circumstances to wear flip flops!

What else can he wear? I was thinking maybe crocs? Or would he be ok with flip flips just around the pool and then wear his casual shoes with insoles if he's going to be walking any distance? If the physio said no flip flops then I can't see him wearing them.

Ideas please Smile

Would birkinstocks work for to and from the pool. Obviously they can't get wet so they're not for at the waters edge.

I have to wear orthotics prescribed by my podiatrist as I have an overpronation problem and my feet are quite flat.

I asked about sandals and was told either prescription made which are £££ or just buy fitflop slides (without the orthotics obv)

shoetique fitflops

Could your DH check with the physio about fitflops? Apparently they are great for some foot conditions and a big no no for others.

You could try these as they have a shaped footbed, also come in other colours. Order a whole size bigger - it's essential!

Thanks I'll have a look at those suggestions with him. Birkenstocks would be good but he needs something for the pool area so will go with something else.

I have plantar fasciitis and have been having the same issue. I found some called Flopeds which look promising. Ordered them but they haven't arrived yet.

A website called HappyFeet is also useful. I ordered some shoes from thm for over pronation.

I wear Birkenstocks by the pool and they are fine, been going strong for 3 or 4 beach holidays now. Maybe don't put them on when your feet are soaking, but you can spray the footbed with rain protector.

Have a look at Keen sandals, bit pricier but designed to be great for feet and have good arch support, plus are very durable and last for years.
