Style me please

I used to be very clear about what suits me but in the last few years, post children, I have less time, money and understanding of what suits me, so I thought you can help.

I'm 40. 5 ft 7, not over weight but not thin either. But I'm not toned. And my weight is unevenly distributed....i have a v small waist and big hips and thighs. But it's lumpy and bumpy rather than Jessica rabbit

I wear jeans lots as spend lots of time on school run and ferrying children about.

However, I like a slightly retro fifties look..louisa from doc martin. Skinny jeans and straight skirts are a complete no no. And I don't like white stuff/ fat face etc. Or tunics and leggings.

Can you help? Or point me in the direction of style blogs which would give me ideas.

OP I am in no way any kind of style expert, but I recently decided to do a wardrobe overhaul and found this website and also this one really helpful.
