Blogs/guidance for the curvy SAHM

Evening ladies

I am shortly to become a SAHM and therefore need to up my non-work wardrobe. At the moment on my off-days I tend to mostly wear skinny jeans (the stretchy M&S bum squishing ones) and Breton style tops with a longer vest underneath or the odd boxy jumper if it's colder. That is going to get very boring very quickly worn 24/7. I prefer to wear dresses to work rather than trousers and when I do wear trousers I wear cropped ones with ankle boots. I also wear ankle boots with my skinny jeans. I am a 12/14 on top and 14/16 bottom E cup boobs (based on what Bravissimo say so I'm comfortable that's right!) I have several stone to lose and am 5ft 3. My main problem area is my belly at the moment. I have shoulder length dark blonde ombre hair with a fringe if that makes any difference. I tend not to wear much jewellery but am thinking that I might need to change that to give my everyday outfits some oompf. I do have a variety of chunky/statement/quirky jewellery that I wear for work but it gets neglected at home. Last year I banned pretty much all floral/bird print Fatface/White Stuff/Seasalt type items from my wardrobe as I felt it was making me frumpy. I would rather work with block colours, stripes or spots.

I do like Avril's style on School Gate Style but I get annoyed wearing a scarf round the house plus she's a lot thinner than me! Googling curvy/plus size style blogs brings up girls who are a LOT bigger than me and also who embrace their size in a way that I never will. I am unhealthily overweight and that WILL change but I need to find some style in the meantime. Can anyone point me in the direction of a style doyenne who I can follow for ideas of who to put cheap, flattering and non-frumpy outfits together?

Thanks Flowers

Have a look at Franish and Shop and Twirl. They're US bloggers and 'average' bodies. Franish is more formal but still has some good casual outfits. There's also Putting Me Together, who is teeny tiny, but not model-like. She puts easy to copy casual outfits and capsule wardrobes together.

Its really frustrating isn't it. I am a size 12 with G cup boobs - unlike any blogger I have ever read. And if you Google 'curvy' who knows where you will end up!
You sound as if you are pretty much there anyway on what suits you/ what you like but need more inspiration as a SAHM both in look and budget. I tend to go for the mainly SAHM blogs and adapt them for what suits me. I really like School Run Style and My Fashionable 40s. All Worn Out can also be good. If you follow them on Bloglovin, it will give you more ideas. They are good at what is on the high street/ supermarket so will generally give you the cheaper end.
Or just get some more bum squishing jeans and Breton tops like the rest of us do!

Uk is better if you want to get the shops though? Fuller figure fuller bust is more of an 18, but the blog is good.

Oooh oooh ooooh, I've just read the Reimagining clothes link on Putting Me Together and pretty much ALL the before photos are like me working through my wardrobe. Having thought about it, I think there are probably ways of reimagining a lot of my work wardrobe (I'm fairly smart-casual rather than suited and booted anyway) to make it more every day. I've just realised that I have quite a few things which I have always kept as 'work' clothes where actually they would be perfectly fine everyday but I have this weird separation in my mind, a bit like wearing school uniform I guess. These blogs have opened my eyes to how I can reinvent what I've got (and therefore what I already know fits me and suits me). Thanks S&B ladies, I'm off to play with my wardrobe! Flowers
