Where are you going and what will you be doing?

The trousers are OK with chunky jumper and big slouchy bag I'd say, but the dress and top aren't great. If you're a 14-16, wouldn't you be better with v-neck things? I know that I (a 14) can't wear anything that isn't open at the neck as I just get a chest shelf and look really frumpy.

We are going to Stratford for the weekend for my husbands 40th and are booked into a 5* hotel and will be going out for meals.

I've just got this in blue - it's really nice on, much better than you might expect! You could wear the black trousers with it, then a dress another time, maybe a pencil skirt and top another day?

Cross post - the dress looks a bit twee, but not in a quirky way. I'm old though, so don't take my word for it, but that shape would do nothing for me (I need either fitted/pencil styles or very floaty just above the knee, with heels). Boden have 30% off today, Top Shop have lots of 50% off for Black Friday, and everywhere else has discounts tomorrow I think (Phase Eight starts tonight and they actually have a couple of nice dresses).

Love the dress, will really cinch you in at the waist, and a beautiful colour. And I love the lace.

The teal top is lovely, but I would have reservations about wearing it myself (could look great on you though, and I love the print) as high necks with no sleeves make my bust look huge and my flabby arms would be exposed.

I've just returned a Therapy dress and a Wallis dress. The Wallis was too baggy around the waist and under the arms and the Therapy one was a bit plain. More of an every day dress. I'll have a look around online.

I got a 12 in it Hermione - their stuff tends to be a bit big usually though (I tend to go down 2 sizes in it). They're great on returns if you don't like it (even after a year . . .) .

I'm also a hour glass 14/16 and pretty busty. The dress I think is a lovely shape. The top I would need to try on as too high a neck and no sleeve at all can sometimes make me look very butch!

I don't stick to V necks anymore. I had an HOC style day last year and it was one of the things I particularity asked about and I was told that with my style personality and face shape I didn't have to stick to V necks at all. I much prefer a slash/boat neck these days as it seems to balance me better.

I think the dress is lovely I would add some lovely long ear rings to it for a meal out and some nice high heels.

I agree, Peacock. I used to only wear V necks but now I realise I don't have to.

Cowl neck is also great for me. I have been told by a number of people (women I might add) that my cowl neck top makes my "tits look great"

The high neck with no sleeves isn't a good combo IMO, its the only thing that is a definite no-no from me.

I have a lovely pair of clarks shoe boots I was going to wear with the dress. And I'm a little fed up of v necks and thought i'd venture out into something a bit different. Maybe I'll go and try it on rather than ordering online.

I would recommend a cowl neck, Hermiione. Does wonders for me. Something with 3 quarter length sleeves (the length of the sleeve has an effect on how the size of your waist, or something)

Shoe boots will look lovely with the dress. Is there much of a heel? How tall are you? I would have to wear a heel as I am a short arse.

Love that dress so much I am thinking I might make a purchase myself!

I have sent back everything I have ordered so far argh. They've all been not quite the right fit. I'm getting a bit down tbh trying to find something. It's starting to take the shine off the weekend. It's out first without the DC.

you could probably wear your shoe boots, although I'd go for chunky heeled black suede. Chunky black scarf to if it's needed (Mint Velvet do nice ones with tassels on).

This top is another fail safe in blue peacock or grey peacock - not v-neck, but enough of a scoop to not make a chest ledge.
