Man Boobs

An interesting and amusing one:

My SO and I have recently returned from a Caribbean cruise. Obviously, in the heat, most guys had their shirts off but we were both surprised (and a little put off) by the number of guys with man boobs. The question therefore came up, if women can't walk around topless then should guys be asked to cover up too?

Its not amusing for my DH Sad. He was treated with high doses of steroids for his asthma as a child/teenage which left him with "man boobs". He is very self concious about them and it does cause him self esteem issues. He covers up because he is embarrassed, not because you find them "off putting". I think he is beautiful, inside and out.

I think either women should be allowed to walk around with their norks out or men should ALL be asked to keep tops on.

I know women who are a size A (at a push) and men who could give Dolly a run for their money, it's ridiculous that women are expected to hide away the exact part of their anatomy that men have.

I'm confused. Did someone try and stop you going topless on your cruise?

Yes, I think most liners ask that guests do not go topless. OP, you will probably be aware that most of the men who worked on that liner were from East Asia (Manila, the Philippines, etc) where they're either religious or just more conservative. Allowing topless sunbathing could cause many of the liners' employees to feel uncomfortable, and I think it's important that they should try to limit that- when I was in Egypt last year there were signs all around the swimming pool to this effect.

Also, most women have breasts, and they have been sexualised. It's shit and I hope it changes but that's the way it is right now. A man having breast tissue is not the norm, and is likely to be the result of excess weight or a medical issue. I don't think it's ok that they should be told to 'cover up', any more so than a woman with excess body hair should be told to shave it off or get off her sun lounger.

Men should not go topless in my opinion. Its horrible! On a beach fair enough. Actually i think its not the same ot women going topless. With women breasts, they are regarded as part of their sexual make up. [ as well as functional in relation to breastfeeding] Men are attracted instinctively to a womens breasts because it is linked to a sign of fertility. Are man boobs a source of attraction? e...no !!!!! Man boobs are the opposite..a complete turn off and a sign of age... Keep them hidden. it is totally and utterly not the same!!
