How do you store your scarves?

I have lots of lovely scarves - long ones, short ones, wide ones thin ones, all colours, various weights. I buy them because they are lovely and I love to wear them.

But how to store them so I can see them and therefore remember to wear them with the correct outfits?

At the moment they are either stuffed in a box, stuffed on a shelf or some are hanging off a hanger but actually mostly in a big pile on the floor under the hanger.

Ikea scarf hanger. It does get huge and heavy, though.

Prettily stacked in rainbow order on a good day at eye level on open shelves in the cupboard under the stairs, which is where the coats and shows are kept, so a logical place to complete an outfit imo.

I use a hanger for the smaller ones and just loop them over. My woolly ones are in a.big drawstring bag in the bottom of my wardrobe. I love scarves.

I have a lakeland scarf hanger, love it.

I got a velvety scarf hanger in TKMaxx. It has lots of holes in it to poke scarves and other accessories through. The velvety texture stops them all from sliding off. I hang it off the end of my curtain rail so I can see them all.

I have one of those IKEA units with the square cubby holes (Expedit?), and my scarves are stored in baskets slotted into it. I try to keep them vaguely colour-coded (blue ones in one basket, reds in another etc) but it doesn't always work out.

I have hundreds of scarves; a tiddly hangar-thingy wouldn't cut it.

Thanks for all your replies. I think I might have to jolly off to Lakeland !
I would love to store them all neatly and in colour coded fashion, but all in one place is a jolly good start. I hate ironing them, so not scrunched will be a winner for me too!

I did just see another option - buy shower curtain rings and put them on a normal coat hanger - hey presto.

But I like the idea of going to lakeland more Grin

I roll them into stubby cylinders and then stand on end in a drawer

I have a short curtain rail attached to wall at waist height behind bedroom door. All my scarves hang over it and it looks pretty I think. I have been known to adjust which ones are on top just to change the look.

Folded in a pile on an open shelf in my dressing room.

I have three trouser hangers the same as companioncode , I can fit three per level, so about 15 per hanger, works really well, they don't get crumpled and means I can see them all.

Woolly scarves are folded and stored in a wicker basket.

I have masses of scarves: from chunky woolly ones to light silk.

Apart from my one Hermes Scarf (which is folded in its original box and which I am to frightened to wear) I fold them over a hanger- one hanger to each scarf- and put the hangers on one of those portable clothes rails. I don't know what they are called but I got mine at Argos.

I used to have them folded in drawers but that meant that I forgot what I had, as I couldn't see them all at one glance and, if I was looking for a particular scarf, it often meant that they would be strewn all over the room.

The advantage of the method I use now, is that I can see them all at a glance and they are easy to access.

I have them stored in their boxes. The larger ones without boxes are hangin over the end bit of my clothes rack - means I can see them and don't forget to use them.

Carpaccio - your scarves are clearly better quality than mine. Primark's £4 finest don't come with boxes. Grin

Just to update - I bought Lakeland hangers, so thank's for that suggestion.

I also got for my shorter scarves some shower curtain rings. This was a pinterest suggestion and OMG it is fantastic. So fantastic, I have been back and bought some more and organised all my bangles, bracelets and other bits and bobs of accessories onto them. My teeny tiny space in the bedroom is now super-super organised!
