Any hairdressers out there? Post chemo hair - to dye or not to dye?

Am now one year post chemo and have finger length hair that is really shaggy and come back thick, coarse, grey and curly. I used to be thick, mouse and wavy. I have had 2 cuts: once after few months to get it all one length (May) and once when it was just all over the place (September ).

Am keen to have at least shoulder length hair like I used to and to colour it as I hate the grey. I feel like a granny in a steel grey bonnet!

Went to Toni and guy for first cut as they have Macmillan trained staff for chemo clients and she was lovely but so expensive! Used lovely local person next and she was nice but gave me horrid cut.

Any advice? Should I just colour and wait for hair to grow? Or go for medium cut and colour to make me feel better? I just want to look like me again.

I'm not a hairdresser but am 2 months post-chemo and have coloured my hair twice already. Thr first time with a vegetable dye (not much cop) and last week with a semi-permenant (NICE & EASY) - it's covered the grey OK so will do for now. I doubt I will be able to wait until 6 months to get a permenant colour but I'm going to try.
I woudl have thought you would be fine to do what ever you want.

I normally have highlights. Once used home dye- never again!

I had highlights once my hair was long enough to colour, so if you want your hair coloured, I'd say go for it! Smile

As an aside, I went from strawberry blonde, straight hair pre - chemo, to dark blonde/brown, curly hair post - chemo. I have no idea what the chemo does to your hair, but mine now is nothing like it was before!

I'd be doing whatever it takes to make me feel me again.

Dye it!

It is so strange - I keep catching sight of myself in the mirror and being so shocked. I don't think my hair looks like that! And as for my skin...
