Beautiful old woollen coat needs a lot of TLC, could it look new again?

I have an old Reiss coat (6 years) in need of serious TLC.

The lining has split down the middle of the inside and the fabric is looking tired and bobbling terribly.

Other than dry cleaning, is there a way I could get this coat looking new again?

I have loved this coat so much over the years and am reluctant to part with it.

I used a big hair roller to remove bobbles which worked but of course they come back again. You could try finding a dress alteration specialist to mend or replace the lining although it might cost near as much as you bought it for.

Dry cleaning won't make and old coat new again. I'm sorry to say . Replacing the lining will cost as much as a new coat too. Get a lint roller and give it a good de fluff .

Thanks for the advice.

I tried the lint roller and the bobbling won't go away.

I think I am going to have to suck it up and let my coat go with some dignity. Its silly I know, but I love my old coat!

Thanks anyway Smile

You could try shaving the coat with a razor.
It might remove the bobbles.
Worth a try. I've done it in the past.

I feel your pain, I have got an old Toast wool coat and it is looking crumpled and sad. I love it...the lining ripped within weeks when I got it so get a hefty refund and kept it.

Never bothered to get it relined, but it could use a clean really. I will be distraught if it has to go.

I'd sit in front of the tv one evening and just de-bobble it, then send it off to be relined. A loved and cherished coat deserves your time!

Old favourites are worth some TLC Wink

These are great for de-bobbling.
