TK Maxx - seconds or past season stock?

Are TK Maxx allowed to sell stock online which are seconds without saying so in the description?

I thought their stock was just from past seasons or odd quantities/sizes however I have just received some shoes with a list of manufacturing faults. Obviously I got a good reduction but as they are shoes, I now think they might not wear well.

It makes me think that all the previous bags, beauty stuff and clothes that I've bought in the past could all have been rejected by the manufacturer.

No, I think they are obliged to sell something as seconds only if it is labelled as such or you're given a discount at the point of sale.

I would think this is an error and return them.

I shop there a LOT (and online) and have rarely found anything to be below par - if it is I tell them and they take more off.

It's mostly end of lines and last season, maybe returns, but I am fairly sure it's all checked and made sure it's Ok before they sell it.

I think its a mixture.
Most is just left overs that manufacturers couldn't sell.
But I found a pair of Levis which were seconds.

I think perhaps some are seconds. I have bought a load of grobags (I have twins) and they Re all the same size but actually the differnet in length is up to 2 inches between some of them. Doesn't bother me with something like that but I do check some things very carefully.

I ordered a pair of knee length dune boots from them last week and I think they were seconds. They were different sizes on the calves and I couldn't get one of them to zip up. Usually boots gape on me so I think there was something wrong with them.

Phinz I think I ordered those same boots too if they were brown!! I also could barely get the zip up on one and the other was huge!

Yes they were Ruby. Glad it wasn't just me, it made me slightly paranoid about my legs, I ended up measuring my legs just make sure the problem was with the boots!

My sister tried to buy a box of tea from her TK Maxx but noticed they had "not for commercial re-sale" on the back. They'd been stock from a hotel or similar. She had a quiet word with a staff member who went off to withdraw them from sale, so they do seem to have quite a mixed bay.

My big peeve is ceramics, where they cover the fault with the price tag, so you don't see wht it's so cheap until you get it home.

I once bought a lovely lamp which had a thick round glass ball as a base, a bit like a paper weight, but heavier and bigger. Placed it on the wooden coffee table in the lounge. The table is under the window. Went in to the room a few days later, and I could smell burning. Eventually worked out where it was coming from. The lamp base had left a big scorch/burn mark on the table. The base had acted like a magnifying glass as the sun shone through the window.
Took it back, explained, and got a full refund. Staff assured me it would not be put back on display.
My daughter recently managed to get £10 knocked off a lovely leather bag, which had a large scratch on it.

I took them back today as there was one pretty obvious fault on one shoe which I didn't initially spot. I'll double check everything from now on.
