Fluffy new hair growth after hormonal hair loss

Please help me MNers! I came off the pill last year, and due to that and stress of caring palliatively for someone, I lost a lot of weight and mucho head hair. Handfuls. It's all coming back now thankfully, but it is growing back in an annoying way. That is, much like post-natal hair shananigans (that I have observed...) it's coming in probably all over but is v v noticable around my temples and hair line. I seem to have had 2 flushes, so some is 1" long and some is 2" long. And it seem to want to stick up or out. I don't have a fringe/bangs so this means that if I wear hair back, I have curious owl-tufts sweeping back from hairline parallel to eyebrows (I don't know if I am explaining this very well!) and if I wear it down the tufts maybe somewhat camoflaged but I have a central quiff of this baby hair. It's to short for hair grips. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix while it grows out? It's making me feel v self conscious and ungroomed.

Oh yes, you may want to know that I have long hair - to mid shoulder blade. Fine to medium weight, undyed light brunette. Styled (ha!) in with a couple of long layers and 'shaped' around the face a bit.
