Shit! I've made a mess of my hair!

I dyed my hair this afternoon with Nutrisse Morello Cherry. My hair was previously dyed a medium brown but I'd left it weeks and weeks and have been using Head & Shoulders to fade it as I was going to have highlights but changed my mind.

It's gone very red on the top/roots, and really really dark on the bottom. I understand this is down to colour build up etc etc. I've washed it with T-gel and H&S a few times but it still looks stupid.

If I get another colour tomorrow, say dark brown, and apply it as if I was doing a root touch up, would that work? I need it doing by Monday morning as I have to have my photos doing for work, so I won't find a hairdresser open tomorrow Sad

yes, that should do it. i think i was once advised to put a little ( vaseline/ petroleum jelly??) barrier cream on the ends so they wouldn't take the colour too much. ,maybe have a google of it,cos i'm not 100% sure now.
(night shift last night,no sleep and a laaarge glass of vino)
we've all been there!
good luck

Many years ago (many many) I used dark brown hair dye. (my hair is naturally mid-dark brown)
Then I decided to use a blonde dye to take out the colour.
It didn't (of course).
I ended up with a two inch orange strip of root (where it was undyed /grown out)

I had to go out and buy a dark brown to cover - thought Kill or Cure.

It worked. I conditioned like mad after and my hair didn't snap off.

Well, I've put a dark brown on, and it looks much better so thanks for the advice. Phew! I think I'll leave my hair to the hairdresser next time!
