As above really, I have been chatting to a man, he is very nice and we seem to get along well so far... except now he actually has to see me, in real life! Any tips from you lovely ladies as to how I can get myself looking good in approx 10 days would be appreciated sooo much!
Need to a- lose weight, b- get my horrible dry skin hydrated and c- find something nice to wear (I have no idea what to wear- i feel sick just thinking about it)
It's been such a long time for me and really don't want to fall at the first hurdle... (scared sad face)

First of all, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about:)

What sort of a date is it? That will help us to help you with regards to an outfit.

Hello, thank you for the reply :)

I'm assuming that we'll be going to a quiet pub somewhere, nothing too fancy.

I would wear some kind of pretty tea dress, but that's just my style. What sort of thing do you usually like to wear?

Wear something that you really like, and is comfortable. Whats your usual style?

In meantime drink plenty of water, give yourself a facial, body scrub, deep moisturise and hair mask. Pain your nails, shave your legs etc and make sure you feel good.

And enjoy yourself. Grin

I don't normally wear dresses (I wish I had the figure), I was thinking about perhaps wearing a blazer with vest top and skinny jeans/ jeggings. Do you think that isn't 'girly' enough? I keep reading that it's best to keep it feminine particularly on a first date :/

Oooh!! Are you excited? I'm excited for you! My to do list would be:

Body brush every day
Follow with a body scrub in the shower
Moisturise all over when you get out.
Sort out shaving/waxing/cream a day or two before hot date.
Drink loads of water
Maybe think about low carb?? Never done it myself but hear good things about it? Loads of veg and good stuff and no crap anyway!
Get a hair cut and colour if you need it and use deep conditioning/hair oil stuff
Sort your make up out, for me I need perfect base, loads of mascara and eyeliner, and lip gloss

And personally I would go feminine. Not like a wedding dress, but girlie Grin

HTH and big hugs! Xxxx

I think the outfit you have suggested sounds just right for the occasion. You won't feel yourself if you try to act more feminine than you usually are.

Ps there's a princessing/vain clubbing thread lurking around with folks trying to make the best of themselves. We're quite nice, you could join us? Xx

Yes I am excited Grin but just so nervous that he wont fancy me, hence trying to prepare as much as poss! Am loving your to do list graceless- reminds me of my pre baby days long ago (amazing what I've let slip). I've been drinking LOTS of water and running to the loo every five mins (exercise right? lol). And cutting down on all rubbish foods, need to get more active and do something about my tum and arms!

Make up I'm ok with, it's my skin that seems to be playing up lately (?)
I had my hair done a few weeks ago and I'm worried that I'll have roots by then although won't quite be due my appointment-grr.

Ooh that sounds interesting re the princessing thread, where would I find it? Thank you x

Thank you Alwayssleeping, I thought the same about not feeling myself, maybe could try to find a more feminine /floaty vest top (one that doesn't make me look pregnant)? Although the blazer I've been thinking about is nautical style, any thoughts?x

Ooh I've just noticed your comment Jaxteller! Thank you, I wouldn't know how to describe my usual style, I wear black on my bottom half about 90% of the time-boring huh! I always have my arms covered (at least the top half) in some way and rarely wear dresses or skirts. I would love to but I just don't have the figure.
What deep moisturiser would you recommend? xx

I think what you have suggested sounds good. Dont try to be something you arent comfortable being, yourself is what is wanted!

It depends on your skin type, I wear Olay regenerist but when my skin is dry I use a mask and then slather on a serum - which is supposed to go 3 layers deep.

Have a look on S&B - they will have plenty of recommendations for you. Grin
If you want to lose a bit of bloating then low carb for a few days. It really helps. Enjoy yourself, your style sounds sort of like mine. Grin

Lots of people on the big/ slim / whatever threads rave about the 30 day shred. It's only 20 mins a day and is super tough not that I have ever tried it

You can get it on amazon, or if you can't wait it should be on YouTube. There's 3 levels so you progress as you get better.

www.amazon.co.uk/Jillian-Michaels-Day-Shred-DVD/dp/B002RNOS2Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364937079&sr=8-1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Skinnies, feminine top and blazer sound perfect, you have to feel comfortable. And sexy underwear might boost your confidence. Grin

Yes yes to sexy underwear! It's all about how you feel isn't it?

The princessing thread is on here, might have drifted down to page 2....

Tracy Anderson has an amazing arm workout, you can find it on YouTube if you google "Tracy Anderson mat workout arms" It's about 7 minutes long but rock hard and will make a massive difference if you do it every day for ten days. Tummy stuff is also fab but I couldn't comment on the effectiveness in a short time cos I'm never consistent with it. Do the arms though. It's brilliant.

X

Hiya, just thought I'd say thank you for your replies and give a little update...
I've been using face serum and have noticed a bit of a difference already, thanks Jaxteller!
Also I have lost 6lbs since posting this thread, low carb and 30 day shred in full swing Grin I actually can't thank you guys enough, feel like I have got some motivation back after many years; just hoping I keep it up post- date!
My outfit is nearly sorted, just need too find a top to go with it which is proving more difficult than I thought.
Anyway, there's the update, thank you again... Ahh the nerves Smile x

Ohhh how exciting!

Outfit sounds perfect.

If you can have a manicure, do. I always feel so pulled together when I have lovely pretty nails.

Also have a blow dry 'blow out' at the hair dresser or put your hair in hot rollers. You'll looked polished but still you.

A big smile goes a long way!
