Apple - don't want to be a bauble

I am a typical apple and I fear that at times I look positively spherical. I'm looking for a black dress for the festive season. Nothing too partyish as I mostly have nights in with family and friends to look forward to. Nothing too expensive as I can't justify it. I'm 38, 5'6, size 16 big of boob and belly and relatively shapely of leg. I'd like something comfortable can't be arsed breathing in during the charades.
