I'd have to have the sleeveless version Chippy! I get so overheated with all the wine cooking but I love the idea of aubergine. One of my favourite colours

No I can't take velvet its like nails on a chalk board for me. I've got a black and gold jumpsuit or I'm debating a red dress but not velvet.

I read once that a velvet dress at Christmas is only ok if you're under 10 and being taken to watch the nutcracker.

I don't mind if you wear a velvet dress, but it has stuck with me for at least ten years.

Only burgandy/aubergine velvet if you don't need to do any work (like cooking) otherwise your face will attractively tone with your frock.

I wore an aubergine velvet dress to a party when 7 months pg. In the photos I looked like a demented aubergine! This colour only works if you a very Celtic or afro Caribbean. Too hot unless your Christmas is in some vast open plan venue with someone else doing all the work and the drinking

DD has pinched my cheap, comfy crushed velvet dress. She's 14 not 10

I love the idea of Christmas velvet but doubt I'd pull it off.

I've been nervously eyeing these:
Green velvet vamp

blue velvet swing

Why? Why not wear luxe pyjamas.
Really you're thinking too hard

You need washable for christmas day - so much goose fat and it would ruin velvet/silk etc.

However I like to dress up but have my parents this year and my mother really doesn't do glamour so I will be totally overdressed as per.

I rather like that green vamp dress...

what about this one? Wink

I'd do it but then I like panné velvet. Not the thick, stiff stuff though.

stores.ebay.co.uk/rowanscloset I have bought this long velvet dress in red from this place before, it's fantastic and a very good price. If you come back to the link in a couple of weeks' time, you might be able to get a look at it, if you're interested. It only took a couple of weeks to get it through.
