Have Topshop changed the cut of Baxter jeans?

I bought a new pair of Baxters at the weekend - same waist and leg length as previous pair. I've just tried them on and they seem a lot looser round the thigh and not as "skinny". Has anyone else noticed this with Baxters recently?

I thought about washing them to see if they'll shrink, but I suppose my best bet is probably just to take them back and try some others on in the shop.

I don't know but I was very pissed off when they totally changed the Marthas which were such a great jean.

If it ain't broke.

Ahh interesting. A friend had a new pair of Baxters on this weekend and I found myself thinking they looked like they might actually fit me, which was odd as I've never managed to get in a pair, being so thunderous of thigh...

They keep changing them, so annoying. They are now more of a slim leg straight jean than a skinny. If you want skinny perhaps try the leigh?

I have just bought 2 pairs of leigh jeans - a very dark blue and a black pair, They are a skinny fit and quite stretchy. I didn't, but I suspect you could, size down. Anyway, they are very flattering - even DH, who is no fan of the skinny jean, commented that they lloked good. Praise indeed.

I have just bought a new pair and dunno about the thighs but they are definitely a bit lower on the hip than my old Baxters, which is annoying. They have also stopped doing them in blue in the petite length :(

I have got some Jamies to try, they are higher waisted and definitely skinnier in the leg

I find Topshop jeans only get baggier with wear, no shrinking Sad

I bought 2 pairs (mail order) last week in my usual size - the vintage denim (which I've had before) and indigo (not tried before). They are both horribly baggy, so I think they must have changed the cut. The vintage ones are wearable but just not skinny, the indigo pair are simply awful. But I bloody wore them out on Saturday before I realised, so I probably can't return them. So annoying, I have been a long term Baxters devotee and can't really be bothered to start again with trying to find nice jeans.

Stillwaiting - try the HM 29.99 skinny jeans. I buy these instead of TS now. Nice material and fit, the regular rise ones actually stay up without a belt unlike TS jeans which are too low rise.

I have two identical pairs of gap jeans, exactly the same part no,

One pair fit, the newer ones are too tight.Angry

Thanks for all the replies everyone - I knew from the Marthas outcry in recent years that Topshop had form for messing around with the cut of their jeans, so thanks for confirming my suspicions.

I took the Baxters back today and tried on a smaller pair, but they still looked shit compared to my old ones (as well as asphyxiating me). I also tried on Leighs (too much like 'jeggings' imo) and Jamies, but ended up (oh irony) coming away with some Marthas. Which I feel a bit meh about tbh.

stillwaitingforthesummer - I feel your pain about trying to find nice jeans now TS have destroyed the Baxters [sad face] Good tip from justasecond re HM which I will explore once I'm a bit more flush, but that's my pitiful A/W budget gone for now.

WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME TOPSHOP, WWWHHHHYYYYYY???

When Topshop make changes to products it's rarely an aesthetic decision. Usually theses changes mean that they have discovered an even cheaper way to manufacture them. That is all.
