Is a graduated bob low maintenance?

Just wondering what to do that's easy, baby due in 8 wks.

And if so, fringe or no fringe? Have fine blonde hair and round-ish face.

I used to have a graduated bob and wouldn't have said it was low maintenance. Mine was chin length though so not long enough to tie back. My hair is pretty straight but if I didn't blow dry it every day it looked awful.

I suppose it depends on the length of bob and your hair type.

If you have quite thin, fine straight hair that just falls into place then it would be low maintenance. If your hair is thicker (or you have lots of it) with any hint of waviness then no, it will be hard work.

I've had mine cut like that many times over the years and although the style really suits me I always end up growing it out as the blow drying and straightening it section by section every morning takes forever!

What tanfastic says. I have fine dark hair and a roundish face. I have just about grown my graduated bob with fringe out after having one for years. I was sick of having to style it and faff with dryers/straighteners every day and now have a collar length bob with just a few layers in. I can put it up when I can't be bothered to do anything with it and find it far easier to cope with. Also goes longer between cuts now. But I agree that it really depends on your hair type. You could go a bit earlier so you have time to discuss it properly with your stylist before she sets forth with the scissors.

I think bobs are lovely, but surprisingly hard work and when they grow, they grow out of shape. You'd be better with something that's a bit less of a defined style - longer and layered to frame face? So you can just wash and go, arf.

ime, no - was probably the most time consuming hair style I've had. Not to mention, frequent trips to hairdresser for trims to keep it looking good/in shape.

What length hair do you have currently?

If you're worried about practicalities of hair styling with a newborn, maybe learn some easy up-dos (you tube/pinterest have loads of tutorials) that you can use? When time pressed, I often do up dos with wet hair that they dries by the time I get to work and because I've done them wet, they stay quite neat for the whole day.

i ahve very fine hair, cut in this style, super easy. Wash, condidtion and leave to dry. Looks fine.

Ok. It just touches my shoulders at the moment, and only just. Kind of a messy growing out layered style with side parting.

Hmm, maybe up dos a little difficult with that length. What about a curly bob - hairdresser could sort out the layers for you, all you would have to do in the morning is quick blow dry and stick some heated rollers in for 10 mins? Alternatively, my friend curls her bob with straighteners which takes about 2 mins once you learn the technique.

Depends what you mean by low-maintenance. You would probably have to blow-dry it (mine looked awful if left to dry naturally) but that only takes a few minutes really.

Get a fringe only if you're likely to get around to having it trimmed regularly, otherwise it's more trouble than it's worth and you end up having to pin it out of the way all the time.

I have fine hair and wear it shoulder length with layers for movement with a fringe. I blow dry my fringe when washed which takes 30 secs with a round brush and leave the rest to dry naturally. I tend to change my hair every 2 - 3 years, and this is the easiest and most flattering style I have ever had.

Don't do it. I had mine cut last year and frigging hate it. It's a pain in the ass to do.

I have my hair in this style, I have 9 weeks to go until baby due As soon as my hair gets longer, I get lazy and don't bother drying it properly, tie it back without styling it, then it really does look rubbish. I can do my hair in 5 mins at this length, though if I want it to look immaculate I would have to take a little bit longer. It looks a bit like one of those pics you suggested, perhaps like the first one but with a side fringe.
