No advice at the moment re accessories, but, my goodness, that dress is stunning!

i have a lovely pair of blue jimmy choo that would look lovely but that's not going to help is it lol.

the dress would look nice with nude heels and a really sparkly bag, (dune do some lovely ones )and a big pair of chandelier earings, matching bracelet and a facinator.

if you need a cover up. you could try a sparkly Cardiff. the jacket is a bit ageing.

cardi not cardiff lmao

The jacket is awful, but the wedding is all inside a top hotel so I don't need rainwear and only need to hobble to the bar.

Yes I agree the jacket is a little bit on the 'old' side. I'm going to a wedding next Sunday, and beginning to seriously consider changing the outfit I'm going to wear. I adore this dress! Anyway - yes to nude heels, and a sparkly/contrast bag. Not too keen on fascinators (prefer hats), but so long as it's not too 'in your face' go for a fascinator.

Nooooo fascinator, just hair.
On another note is this the start of my looking at clothes shops my mother chooses and thinking, comfy, practical, good value!

its a classic style, thats why you can get away with buying it from there. quiet vintage looking too (no reference to your mom btw lol) it wont date cause of the shape.

i have had some lovely stuff from odd places. roman originals being one them Blush

i would go for vintage accessories.
something along the lines of:
small navy hat
metal/bling clutch
and some classic navy court shoes
but i would hunt around to do it on a budget - those are just for examples

Hi can I ask the what length of the dress is and how it comes up for size. It's lovely. I would go for a cardi and platform peep toes .

I wouldn't go matchy with the bag/shoes, its too aging - its a lovely dress and I would wear it with accessories in colours like purple, deep pink or even dark coral.

No fascinators either.

winkle2 · 08/05/2012 19:24

I'd go for bright pink accessories with that navy blue

Less is more with a dress like that, think Grace Kelly, Audrey hepburn.

It's beautiful Envy

Oh yes, and no hats either, just well groomed hair, a pair of heels and a clutch bag. Going for bright colours means you won't need jewellery apart from discreet stud earrings (diamond/pearl).

No fascinator.

nude patent heels
nude bow peep toe
grey suede

beautiful clutch that wouldnt go with any of the shoes ive linked but would go with the dress and a different pair of shoes Grin

Or I'd go for sparkly shoes and clutch, maybe a sparkly clip in the hair?

Report
winkle2 · 08/05/2012 19:46

You could put a belt around it like Kate Middleton!

I would steer clear of nude courts/platforms as they are a bit to ubiquitous going towards wagish now.

I think a grey/black/navy shoe. Try these Zara shoes www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2012/190056/630871/BASIC%2BSANDAL they've been all over the fashion pages (Sunday times style etc.) and have a fashion edge but classic.

Then I'd just have great hair, a plain clutch and then have a pop of colour/bling with statement earrings maybe like this www.gilt.com/brand/amrita-singh?orsrc=-oKO0KJ6H5uHsxqn8UI_D2pfvkbzu9KRBYHhl7YkhHg

I'd also avoid nude shoes.

Have just recommended these in the magenta on another thread and that colour would look good.

Or jade green or metallic perhaps?

Lovely dress Smile

That dress is fabulous. Totally agree with prunella's and coco's advice.
Now that nude shoes have been done to death at Aintree, maybe give those a miss. No, definitely give those a miss.

Oh thankyou ladies you have given me the confidence to go with my choices.
Still can't believe the dress is from Country Casuals, but I love it.
I'm 5'10 and it fits well , length below the knee..
So well groomed hair, stunning ear rings, clutch and killer heels.

Lovely dress and I like the idea of bright pink or deep magenta. Deffo no to nude shoes - too Kate Middleton. And deffo no to hat/fascinator unless you can get away with a cute little vintage pillbox hat.

I also like navy with silver and with really pale grey - maybe pale grey shoes and a pale grey and silver sparkly clutch, with a silver cuff and long silver earrings?

Remus (great name) that clutch is beautiful. I'd second grey, but maybe a pewter grey?
