how do I get wavy hair?

My hair has a natural curl, and if I leave it to dry with a bit of creme it will curl, equally if I straighten it is stays straight. What I would like is wavy hair like VB. I can kinda do that thing with straighteners where you can curl it but it doesn't really last very long, and I have quite a lot of hair so the back is tricky to do and never looks great.

Any tricks? Or tools that I can invest in?

have you heard of the sock bun method? Apparently if you leave it in over night you get wavy hair
