Magic underwear back fat nightmare

Is that subject line self explanatory? I recently purchased for the first time ever some Spanx type pants to wear to a wedding (obv with a dress overtop!). It was from Debenhams - own brand- since that was where I was passing when toddler conveniently fell asleep in pushchair. V comfortable and goes from lower thigh to just under bra.... Seemed to do the job. Halfway through wedding went to the bathroom to deal with toddler explode-poo situation to catch a glimpse of self in mirror and was horrified to see I now had a horrid ridge of back fat squishing out between super pants and bra. Now if I didn't have a thunder pooping toddler to deal with I could have easily spent the rest of the evening obsessing about my back fat and what the hell everyone else made of it. My question is do all brands do this or did I just choose poorly? I actually chose a pair that were on the big side rather than the ones I couldn't breathe in so I don't think they were too tight.

you have to catch the top of the pants under your bra to prevent this high level reverse view muffin. or get someone to sew you in

You are far better to go for a slip style shaper garment for this very reason. TKMaxx are good for this sort of thing.

I agree a slip or really just well fitting underwear and accept yourself as you are! I find those spanx type knickers make me look worse kind of shapeless and sausagey!

Pocket it's naught to do with the brand. The sad - very very sad - truth is that those pants, of any brand, make the tummy/hips look slimmer by pushing the fat somewhere else. In my case too it's usually upwards under the bra, but I have seen women wearing cycling-shorts type control pants and the roll of fat on their thights, where their pants end, is visible under their trousers. So I've given up on those control pants, unless I am wearing a nice, flowy top and the fat roll under the bra strap is not so visible.

(sigh) This is what I suppose I knew ... It has to go somewhere doesn't it. I think I will have to consign these to the 'waste of money' drawer and instead lay off the chocolate and put on the trainers.
