Eyelash /eyebrow dye questions

First off -are they the same thing?
Why won't hair dye work on eyebrows?
Is it available to buy eyelash/brow dye in the High St .I dont want to buy online.
If it is available in the High St and I go to a shop -where would it be kept? Along with mascara ? Hair dye aisle?
Anything else I need to know before taking the plunge?
TIA :o

Hair dye will work on eyelashes. I know, because I did it once!!! When I was about 13. Haha. Don't ask.

The reason they say don't use hair dye on eyebrows is that they are worried about it dripping into your eyes, which in theory can cause blindness. Also, its pretty harsh on facial skin, as you have to leave it on half an hour and its got peroxide in it, of at least 3% usually, or up to 6%.

Also, it stains the skin underneath a bit (ever had a slightly stained hairline?) so you'd look silly for a day or two.

You can buy diy kits in Superdrug/Boots etc. I see them in the same section as false eyelashes, tweezers, fake nails, makeup brushes, that kind of thing. Look for the fake lashes, it'll be round there.

Wow Tatty - that was some picture you painted there well, until the second post :o

I hadn't thought about the time element -nor the stainage either cone to that. I just thought there was some magical ingredient in hair dye that was not in eyebrow stuff.

Thanks for the pointer about where to look in the shops.I have looked round both of these and not found any so far -and I'm blowed if I'm going to ask the SAs in boots where to look.

I used it a while ago, just bought it from the cosmetics bit in Sainsbos. I think it was called eyelure or something like that, cost about £7 or so.

I struggled with the eyelashes bit, but used it for brows and it was fine. I just slathered it on, left it for whatever the instruc. said then wiped off the excess with facial wipes.

There is a magical ingredient in hair dye that's not in lash stuff - peroxide, basically! That's what opens up the hair shaft and allows colour to be deposited into the core of the hair. So eyelash and eyebrow colours really just coat the hair which is why they don't last all that long.
