Wearing shoes without socks?

I feel like discussing the practicalities of wearing shoes without socks.
Not sandals but ballerinas and heels, both open toed and non-open toed. I always wear socks/tights with these types of shoe but I find the sockettes I wear in summer annoying and fiddly and the shoes would look better with no socks at all. However, if I did that, my feet would be sweaty and smelly.

What's the solution? What do you do?

I just wear no socks, never have with ballerinas, and never experienced any smell either.

I don't wear anything on my feet with heels in the summer - spoils the look of the shoe IMO but I don't have really sweaty feet. What about trying some foot deordorant if you're worried?
