Oh I'm fed up with Boden

The exchanges from my preview order have arrived and I like nothing and nothing fits, plus they have sent one wrong item.

the tweed skirtis poor quality, not the same colour as on website- turquoise- and is A line not straight- puffs out on hips.

Ditto the kilt- big hips and sticks out at sides.

velvet skinnies are okay but again, seem to be made for jodphur thighs- i am a size 10 and slim legs.

Cashmere tank top ordered in grey- it's red. The material is also not very soft- had better cashmere from them.

I've got the tweed skirt and I think it's nice - with the purple lining? That said, my size 10 is a bit tight, exchanging it for a 12 today, so let's hope that's a nice fit.

I got fed up with Boden after they kept sending me shouty emails that sounded to me like... (my name) you're a tough nut to crack, why don't you buy our clothes? We've put them all in the sale so they're cheap enough even for sad, tasteless poor people like you. What's wrong with you?
Lovely to get in your inbox when you crawl to your desk first thing in the morning!

Quality gets worse and worse
Just ordered a sunhat in sale and had to send back
Now I would ask you, how wrong can you go with a Boden sunhat, well priced in the sale?

Well it would seem you can go very wrong
Poor quality fabric
Horrible pattern

I'd like more longer skirts. The "below-knee" ones are about knee-length on me and I'm larger than average too, so most of them look silly.

I was hoping the autumn selections would have longer ie mid-calf ones, but nope. :(

Out of nosiness, was the kilt actually a kilt- ie pleated at back and overlapped at front- or just a tartan skirt? I am considering it.

Hopeful bump?

I am wearing right now a Boden dress I bought in the spring and have only worn about 25 times WHICH HAS TEARS AND RIPS IN BOTH ARMPITS.Angry

I didn't notice until I got to work either.Blush

The tears are on the outer layer, so it's not as if it's my deodorant eating into the fabric.
It's faded too.

I am soooo cross. I expect a £90 dress to last more than a few months.

I do like the look of lots of the winter stuff though, but I've been rather put off.

sorry talking thought this thread had disappeared...
the kilt is not a true kilt- it's a wrap over skirt with 2 buckles and no pleats at back. The wrap over is false- doesn't open.

I found it too big on the hips. I don't think I am unusual having a 29 inch waist and hips of 36 inches but for some reason Boden's size 10s have bigger hips.

The answer for me seems to be to lose a couple of inches off my waist and get into an 8.

Thank you! I don't have much waist so it may fit me. Didn't fancy lots of pleats on my bum though.

Queefer, Boden have a excellent customer service, give them a call. I had a top disintegrate on me, and my rain mac bottoms all popped off and both were replaced - infect I only expected new buttons for the mac! And I received a gift voucher!

My parcels of Autumn preview things arrived today (sydney) and I am thrilled with all of my dresses!
Honestly, you English girls don't know how lucky you are if you think Boden is expensive and not top quality- I am always impressed with the tailoring and little details like contrast piping in the linings etc. Similar items would be twice the price here, and not such a range of bright prints and patterns.
The only trouble is that it is 24 degrees here today, so I can't wear my new trench coat but at least all of my new dresses except for a corduroy tunic have short sleeves so I can wear them for spring.

Has anyone else ordered the velvet straight legs? I'm a fairly curvy 14L and don't know whether they'll flatter. £65 whittles down to £58 with the 10% discount, maybe I'll wait for the 20% which will inevitably appear in the next few months.

I'm coveting some Gap straight leg berry cords I saw in The Sunday Times Style mag a couple of weeks ago; nothing on their website though - sigh!

I've seen lods of stuff i like in the autumn brochure too but after having to send back 2 summer dresses as the fabric was cheap and nasty and the colours not as per the book I'm put off ordering too. :( such a shame.

was: They look great, I couldn't see them in any of the London stores a couple of weeks ago but in the name of fashion I'll get my ass up to Regent Street on Tuesday to see whether they're in.
