Really need some inspiration! Am toying with cutting all my hair off...

I have had lots of bobs (chin length) in the past and never really liked them. I have a long face and am quite tall, size 12, and I just felt really mumsy ( i am 27). I have past shoulder length hair now, layered with a side fringe. I never wear it down, so it's normally in a messy bun, ponytail or plait. When I dry and style it to wear it down, I think I look alright, but then photos of me look awful. I have fine hair but a lot of it and it all looks a bit overwhelming in a photo I think. I don't want to regret it if I cut it all off, but then I never wear it down anyway. I'm not even happy with it when I leave the hairdressers- I tie it up again almost immediately! Thoughts please? Has anyone esle not suited a bob, but been happier with it even shorter?

How short? Because if your talking elfin crop that usually suits heart shaped faces.

It sounds like you need a new hairdresser, you ought to like it when it's first done.

I always pick one whose hair I'd like to have.

Fwiw i had waist length cut to a bob and hated it

Not a crop- think I might look too blokey! I know I ought to like it when it's first done, but she is only doing what I ask her too cut-wise. My point is that however well it's cut, I just don't think the style suits me (any style I've had to date really!)

I still think different hairdresser, something must suit you, you just haven't found your haircut yet! So worlds your oyster really.

Style mags are good but I would google hairstyle to suit long face .

I had the chop a few weeks ago.

My hair was past my shoulders with a sweeping side fringe thingy. After I had ds almost 4 years ago I went from very long layered hair to a chin length bob. I loved my long hair and felt really dull and mummsy once I'd had it chopped off so I vowed to grow it back which I did. I'd started tying it up because I didnt have the time to blow dry and straighten every day. I've got really think hair. Anyway I went for it. Now it's a graduated bob which is short at back and longer to under my chin at the front. I have a diagonal parting with a side fringe. I can just about get it into a tiny pony tail. I've also gone a lot lighter with lots of blond/caramel highlights. I think the colour makes a big difference and stops me feeling mumsy. I love it. It takes no time at all the dry. I've found that a good cut this time compared to last has made it quite edgy looking too. I've started going back to saks and think it's well worth the extra cost.

I'd say go for it- it'll grow back if you don't like it Grin
