HELP DD nearly 12 v aggressive and hitting us

Hello,

Our DD has a rare chromo disorder and severe learning difficulties. She communicates via a 'talker', i.e. her iPad which has a sort of PODD book that talks for her.

She's always been pretty anxious and has hit out when super stressed but in the last week or two of the holidays she's totally lost it, hitting and being really vicious a lot of the time. She's really hard to manage and I'm worried about her younger siblings' safety.

I think she might have ADHD or something as well, and am trying to get an appointment with a paediatrician to see if they can suggest anything (meds?) that might help. We are in the process of sorting out professionals to assess her for loads of stuff ahead of a schools tribunal, but that is going to take months and her behaviour is so bad I can't wait that long. Can I see anyone privately do you think? Would happily pay for a one-off appt if they can help.

Just posting on here as I'd love any advice as we feel quite desperate.

Thanks

Just a thought, with it being the school holidays is she feeling isolated from her friends

Our DD 14 is always more tetchy when she has less access to her friends and time away from us, even though she has a similar aged sibling she needs that space

I would also say that 12 was a difficult point where she could no longer cope, mask and her world fell apart

At almost 15 we have turned a corner

Sorry Schroedinger, just seen your reply. That is a really encouraging message and I really appreciate it.

Yes she was isolated from her friends. We had gone away en famille.

What a clever point. I need to make more of an effort to keep what social life she has up in the holidays.

Thank you.
