Can't really advise as dd had her DX from a few hours old!! But surely, if you wait for a DX, you may or may not, be waiting for some time. Surely it's worth trying now by explaining the problems you are encountering rather than them using a DX as a label.

I take it you have "professionals" that can back up your info.

We were told to go ahead with applying without the dx. We've had a dx since applying but not heard anything yet, so I don't know whether it is a good idea or not. I think it is worth haveing a go!

I've applied for DLA for ds2. He has a verbal dx but not an official written one. I was advised to apply now and not bother waiting until ds2 gets a dx. The criteria is that your child needs more help/care than a so-called "normal" child of the same age. Make sure you emphasis this all the way through the form and send copies of relevant medical reports.

I'm still waiting to hear if the claim was successful. No doubt the Rule of Davros will apply and the letter will arrive on a Saturday.

No letter today. Maybe next Saturday, eh?

Hail Queen Davros!

I got a letter to say that the DWP are sorry that they're taking so long to deal with ds2's claim. We're still waiting for a decision but the letter did indeed arrive on a Saturday!

Ha, see! I reckon we should do a study on LEAs, DLA and the Inland Revenue on their posting patterns.... It will be my next PhD and I will be Professor Professor Davrois

CT - I got a similar letter saying that there's no need to worry, they just haven't made a decision yet. When I rang to enquire why, it turns out that my ever-efficient psychiatrist hasn't got round to doing her report yet. No surprise there then. She says she'll have it done by next week then there shouldn't be too long to wait. Getting a bit twitchy now!

I was just beginning to wonder whether section 2 had got there or not. It wouldn't surprise me if ds2's Paed was the reason ours is taking so long. He's nice enough but I really wish we had ds1's Paed again.

Did you get your letter on a Saturday too?

I did, actually, and had a little smile to myself when I thought of everyone else getting them on Saturdays too!

Jenk We got our DLA without a dx.

Coppertop Did you get an acknowledgment of part two? We haven't and I'm wondering if it has gone astray.

Report

No, I didn't get an acknowledgement of part 2 either. I got a letter to say that they'd received part 1 at the end of May. About 2 weeks later they phoned to ask when I would be sending part 2. I was still doing part 2 so told them it would be there within 2 weeks. They haven't phoned again to say that they haven't got it so I'm just assuming that it's there. It also didn't mention in yesterday's letter that it was my fault that the claim hadn't been dealt with so again I'm assuming/hoping that it's either because they've got a backlog of claims or ds2's Paed hasn't sent offf his report.

I'd always send anything like this Recorded Delivery. I think you can track them on-line now. Even proof of posting is worth getting.

I got a proof of posting thingy from the post office when I sent mine. I might phone them this week to check that they've actually received it. I've got copies of everything just in case but hope I won't need them.

I did send mine recorded delivery, but I let dh do it and he has lost the slip of paper that you get.[eye rolling emoticon]

the whole thing makes me sick- as you know i was late sending my forms in- so they terminated my renewal,.....so i have requested a 'Reconsideration'...and sent my forms by "Special Delivery" cost me £4.25...

and i phoned 3 days later to be told it was not there yet....

Royal Mail confirmed it had been signed for the day after i sent it...

so i got my Mental Health Social Worker to call them and she said they confirmed its receipt etc...and she added a few 'extras' to my claim...pointing out that NOTHING has changed since my original claim.

So then a week later i phoned DWP to 'chase up' etc...and the TWT (and that " " is not a letter "i" )said that he could not discuss my forms as THEY WERE NOT ON FILE..... I ponted out that the wee before they were as they were discussed with my SW ...he just kept on about how they recieve so many 1000 forms a day annd that my forms could be anywhere in the system....

I now don't know whether to believe ANYONE.... did my SW actually really phone DWP....did they pretent they have my forms in front of them.....

This is payback for the fact that when i claimed 1st time for my son and myself that i got awarded both DLA's within 4 weeks of sending in forms.

Also i was late getting the forms in...so i am sure they are NOT prioritising me.

I'm sure they make it up as they go along, MrsF. "The forms aren't here yet" really means "They're somewhere around here but someone's probably put them in the wrong tray and I can't be @rsed to go and look for them because it's not my problem." You can speak to 3 different people and they will give you 3 different answers.

What p*sses me off is that I sent Section 1 off and it arrived at the end of May. Mid-June they were on the phone asking when section 2 was going to arrive so I sent it in asap. It's now almost the end of July and they still haven't finished processing the claim. Ds2 isn't even at pre-school yet so it's not as if they had to wait to contact any pre-school staff for a report.
