OT wait?

Hi I was just wondering if there was a maximum time limit to OT waiting list? I remember when I was first referred to SALT there was a 12 week one. DS was referred in march and I have heard nothing. I have chased it up a few times but I am not getting anywhere.

Thanks x

we've just had a letter saying that the waiting time will be 30 weeks (maximum). this is in scotland though. you do seem to have waited a very long time. have you had any kind of acknowledgement that your ds is in the system and hasn't been lost somehow?

We've been waiting since January -- got an assessment form through in March, they acknowledged receipt in May and since then nada. Goodness knows whether we'll ever get an appointment...

There is no limit on their waiting list time, unlike there is for Gospital Drs 18 months is normal here

for the first time we waited jsut over a year. After he was discharged and then referred again, we only waited for 6-8 weeks or so.

Ask them what the waiting times are in your area.

Ours was 18 months! We'd moved on before ever getting to the top (one of the reasons to do it tbh). Same wait for SALT. 6 months for physio who was then beyond rubbish (didn't touch ds2 just wrote endless reports and assessments).

Thanks for all your reply's. They told me a few times the referral must of got lost but yesterday when I rang they acknowledged they had it on they phone and said they would ring me back.

Ds has just started at a children's center's nursery a few weeks ago as they have a language group he was referred to and I decided to speech to the speech therapist there this morning and she just rang me to tell me she rang them and has arranged an appointment for him this friday. Hope it goes well.

here in my neck of the woods, my ds will not be seen by an OT as he is currently being assessed for autism.
