Hi there, can someone please outline for me the error correction procedue as I am having a friendly dispute with my friend about how it is done, namely do you acknowledge the prompted trial if it is correct and do you offer verbal praise if the transfer trial is correct? I have been googling it extensively but can't find anywhere where it is written down and I have lent my books out - HELP!

Thanks

I think it differs slightly according to different providers but we always do
Trial
Prompt - verbal praise if correct
Distractor - verbal praise
Distractor - verbal praise
Trial - main reinforcer if correct.

Is a transfer trial the same as a distractor - ie. something the child has mastered?

Hi there,

Thanks for that!! Transfer trial is the unprompted trial that you do after a prompted trial but before distractors - if that makes sense!!

It does seem to vary between providors and I can't find a confirmed method written anywhare - does anyone else use the Error correction procedure?

xx
