ds went from MS to SEN school a couple of months ago. He was actually an emergency placement so we didn't have to go to panel.

Does your ds have a statement? Standard route would be for a review of the statement - if it is not due for review you can ask for an interim review.

I would request that a rep from LA attends and have a parental report ready. You need to show that it is not the level of support but the placement that needs ammendment.

It helps if you have the support of school / SaLT / EP / Outreach team (or whoever is involved with your child)

Hope it goes ok.

not been in that situation (DS always in SN school) but im sure if you feel able to give just a bit more detail about whats been happening with your DS and why you feel sn school is going to meet his needs more, someone on here will have been thru something similar!

thanks for the response, sorry it took so long to get back, been so busy today. yes my son has a statement and his annual review is due in january so it will hopefully give me enough time to get all reports together. then they said it would go to panel. we just feel he has made no progress in this school in over a year, his paediatrician put him at a 3 and a half - 4 year old level on most things, and he will be 7 in january. does this info help a bit more

IPSEA and Partnership with Parents also can give good advice

We have done this. Agreed at annual review that MS no longer appropriate, we found suitable school, they assessed dd and offered her a place, then the case went to Panel at LEA for approval. We were lucky and they agreed. Dd started at (fab) Special School FT last month.

In my LEA 'panel' is just a decsion made by the education officer and not the boardroom affair everyone is led to believe!

Is the school you want within your LEA?

yes the school is within the LEA. i just hope they can find it in their hearts to help a little boy who so needs and deserves it. thanks for all your advice, it really is much appreciated, it's so hard to know what to do for the best sometimes.
