DD has had an awful day today she has been really upset and stressed all day so lots of tantrums. She has lots of fears at the minute one of them being wind and it is very windy here today so she hasent wanted to go out, dh has just rang his friend and said we will go round, dd got totally stressed about it and crying because she is petrified of aliens at the minute and friends son has a talking alien so she refused to go. DH got really angry and stormed out, he just doesnt seem to be able to acccept her fears are nerve racking to her and doesnt understand all her imaginery play (today she has spent most of the day in her own little imaginery world prob cos she feels safe there when it is windy). Does anyone sometimes feel that dh dont seem to understand? Sorry rant over x

Poor you and dd. It's not easy is it?
Yes DH has trouble realising that ds needs more patience and more understanding when it comes to certain aspects.
DH too often thinks ds is being naughty for the sake of it! and shouts at ds regarding some asd behaviours he has like vocal stims for instance.
That really get my back up!

Dh definitly does not have the patience and thinks she is just playing up. I suppose he doesnt see it as much as me like during the week she is petrified of cracks in ceilings and there was a crack in the roof of her nursery so i took her in with the head teacher and explained it was safe etc, but it was awful to see her she was wringing her hands together and shaking - I hate to see this on a 4 year old. Suppose dh doesnt see that side of it as much cos he works long hours, he just doenst seem to know how to deal with her behaviour sometimes.

how old is your DD ? could you not sit down with your dd & talk through her fears with her , it seems a shame that you could not go out because of her fears .

Yup - had a very similar thread the other day in fact.

No advice, but you aren't alone.

You definitely aren't alone. We go through exactly the same here -dh just doesn't 'get' that dd isn't over reacting. Your dd sounds very similar to mine and dh thinks some of her fears are just irrational eg certain television adverts/ fear of rain.

And yes, it is heartbreaking to see the dc so stressed and scared.
