'backing' in speech

I've been told that DD2 is ' backing'
e.g. pig becomes gig
mama becomes baba
cat beomes tat etc

She's only 2 and now not to be reviewed for another couple of months. Her expressive language is significantly delayed, though receptive language scores well above her actual age.
Wondered if anyone else has this and if so what the outcome was? Should I be jumping up & down for more SLT now?

Hi.
I'm no expert but the examples that you give don't seem to all be 'backing' as I thought this was when sounds were produced further back in the mouth than they should be.
These kind of errors seem quite typical for many 2 year olds, but as I say, I'm no expert.

That's interesting.....I was thinking of going to a private SLT for a second opinion,as I suspect there may be more to it than what I've been told so far

Hi
I also thought this was quite a common issue until about age 3 as well? When we last saw SALT around dd's 2nd birthday she said many children still use substitutions at this age - that stopped me worrying so much about my dd!
Maybe you could wait until your review and then ask for more SLT if it seems like a major issue?
