Am so very proud of dd1...

As some of you willknow, I haven't been having the easist of times with dd1 recently.

Today, we had some friends round to play (a boy form her class, and his twin sister).

dd2 duly ignored them as they arrived (as I expected, really, as she doesn't normally like other children, and this was more about a mums' get-together than a children's one!)

then we went out to the park.

dd1 ran along with the other little girl, racing with her, and just enjoying her company

number one...

then, when we got there, dd1 followed the girl about, copyingher, and chasing her over the climbing frame etc.

then dd1 collected lots of little stones at the other girl's instigation, happily trotting off and bringing them back to her.

So, all in all, a very interactive afternoon for dd1

and I think she has made her first friend

when we were coming back form the park, dd and the girl ran off ahead again, and then, when the girl's mum called out to top, the little girl turned to dd1 and said "we need to wait now", and dd1 did!

I am just amazed, and very proud of my little girl, who has had as NT an afternoon as she has ever had in her life

That is AMAZING (I mean, if my DS did that I'd check that I am actually awake). Well done froglet!!!!

I just can't stop ing about it

dd1 was just so relaxed and happy, and interacting with another child who, before today she had barely ever given a second glance to.

and she copied so much - she went on bits of equipment that she wouldn't normally go on because the other girl was playing on them - it's just all so, well, normal

That is so lovely! It's how DS2 is with his friend C - being with her just seems to bring out the best in him.

Thanks, everyone. Am still today.

The thing that impressed me the most was that is wasn't adult directed at all - dd1 just ran off with the girl, and they sorted out their interaction between them (obv helps that the girl has an ASD twin, as she is used to odd communication skills). Was so nice to jsut stand back and watch dd1 be a normal little girl, rahter than have to hover to interpret, or direct, or comfort dd1.

ohhhh,
What a proud happy moment for you. I dream of the day when my DS1 finds a little friend of his own to play with, so I really feel your joy.
