Cleaning Ds teeth is just about impossible. Ive tried to rule out any problems that maybe causing it- I know he likes the toothpaste because he eats it. He doesn't seem to have an over sensitive mouth, more under sensitive. Ive tried vibrating tooth brushes (which he had no problem with but made no difference to getting the job done) Ive tried different angles from behind from in front, guiding his hand, lots of praise etc nothing works He just about lets me put the toothbrush in his mouth, He will suck the toothpaste off, chew the toothbrush for a bit while I try to move it around a bit, then throw the toothbrush down and clam his mouth shut.

So I was wandering if there is anything else I can try. This might sound a bit mad but I was thinking like those dog chews things that clean their teeth but for humans. Is there anything like this?

Not dog chews! but I've just bought some periobalance mint lozenges (mentioned on India Knight's blog) for my daughter. They are a probiotic and good aid to oral health, not tried them yet.

We also use a collis curve toothbrush which has rounded bristles and is more efficient than the usual type.

My daughter is now 10 and getting a bit better. She doesn't have many sweets but even with the brushing problems has no tooth decay. She does have fluorosis from having fluoride supplements (on advice of the dentist) but at least her teeth seem strong.

Just to clarify I wouldn't actually give DS dog chews!

Where can I buy the mint lozenge's from? They sound like a good idea!

Somebody has been screaming again...hence me on the computer at odd hours. Bloody time change!
