ITV news tonight and maria Hutchings was adressing the Labour government about the difficulties experienced by SEN children in mainstream schools.
She has joined forces with the men in blue....labour are saying she ia a political pawn because hers is just an isolated case!!!!!!
Are they not in the real world?????

Good on her for then regaining the stage to tell the PM just how disgusted she is that SEN children are not getting the services in both health and education that they deserve.....this woman is starting to make waves....lets hope someone starts to listen.

The dses have been watching CBeebies this evening so I haven't seen the news.

I think she said that one special school per week has been closed since Labour came to power.

The problem is that the LEA's always cover their backs by claiming that they are not closing the schools but reconfiguring them.

This is happening where I live, my LEA seems to be creating sen provision that is unsuitable for most children. My sons placement has changed beyond recognition in the three years that he has been there and is less and less suited to his needs. However, I have no alternative other than mainstream which I don't really think is suitable for him either.

I am angry at the way politicians jump on these cases for political pointing scoring. I doubt if any politician has a genuine interest in her childs education.
