AARRGGHHHH!!! DLA FORMS!!!!

I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.
When it asks in part 8 - someone keeping an eye on the child, how many days a week, how much of the day and for how long the need someone with them can I just put constantly???
How can I say how many times a day and for how many minutes each time DS needs help communicating, it's basically every time he speaks. What stupid bloody questions!!!!

I need a drink! Sorry, rant over, I'll go now.

for some sections i did put in all day from waking till bedtime where it was needed. dla forms are so evil, i'm dreading filling in the forms for dd's renewal in Jan - when we were awarded it last summer it felt like years away but I know it will creep up on us - good luck.

i did the same as hanging because her SALT also signed her form about her communication problems.

it's not so much her speech as her understanding of others - she cannot sequence to save herself. she does NOT understand first one thing, then the next.

so that makes communication problematic.

might help to break down his communication problems like that - say, if his problem is with speaking clearly so that others understand him or if his problem is more verbal comprehension (as DD1's is).

I filled the forms in last week for dd2 (asd), i found those questions hard as dd2 needs to be watched contantly as she has no fear of danger and she needs help with comunication as she is non-verbal. A few days after i had a phone call from DLA and they told me we would'nt be able to claim much as dd2 (2.6) does'nt need watching any more than a normal 2 1/2 year old (is it normal for a 2.5 year old to climb up a book shelf and jump off?, i think not)

Marne - If they try to fob you off, ask for it to be re-considered (or whatever it's called). Ds2's application went in when he was 2yrs old. He had/has similar issues to your dd and was given higher rate. Obviously higher rate will depend on how much care is needed at night etc but they shouldn't be able to immediately rule it out like that.

DLA forms are hideous! I used the help guide from Cerebra when i filled out ds. He needs virtually constant supervision during his waking hours so I wrote that down.

I have used the help guide from Cerebra which was really good. I will try to get them finished off tomorrow, but we won't have the OT report until after the 8th September because she is on holiday. Can I send that on seperately once I get it?

You should be able to, I was able to send off my sicknote from my GP afterwards. Still waiting for a decision on mine though, as they have decided they want a report from my GP. Once I've done mine, I'm applying for DD & ds2. Doing them one at a time as the STRESS!!! is too much to deal with all at once! I've heard that they are turning everyone down at first, to weed out fake claims, but if you appeal, you should get it. Apparently they are working on the premise that fake claimants wont bother to appeal. Good Luck!

We should know in a few weeks, it does sound like we will get something but im guessing it will be the lower rate , I am waiting to hears as i may have to give up my part time job if Dd2 gets a place at a special nursery (12 miles away), without dla i cant aford to give up work and i wont be able to get her to nursery
