OK I need a Makaton sign for shiatsu

ds1 is asking to go to shiatsu every 5 minutes (the appointment is tomorrow ) but he's using the sign for toilet (because the guy who does it has a toilet off his therapy room).

I want to use a different sign, but can't think of anything- anyone got a generic 'therapy' sign?

I'm afraid I don't. Personally I would go for fingers placed on our near the scalp and either tap on or near the scalp, to show the massage.

Well he likes the toilet and the hour and half drive (3 hour round trip) and he loves banging on about it all the time.....

He's getting more response each time we go. (We've only been 3 times). ~First week hardly got a hand on him, this week he lay down still for some decent periods. And he's teaching me what to do as well.

He had a toilet obsession long before toilet training. So everything (bath towels, pens, toys, pants) used to go down there!

DS2 won't even look down the toilet - will sit on it but not for long (see other thread!) and scarpers if he thinks I'm going to flush it. I need to nurture a toilet obsession!

DS1 got a bit frightened of flushing (despite flushing everything down it himself).

I was hopeless at keeping him on the toilet, but my mum was really good. She armed herself with toys and books and then practically threw herself on him. That was the key really just getting him to stay there. I give all credit to my mother though.

She'd make a great floortime therapist thinking about it, everytime he went to move (and break a circle) she just threw herself into the next one. Very impressive (I didn't have the patience/energy).

While you girls are on the Makaton subject i hope you dont mind me asking what the signs are for

good looking and good listening

My DD has just started learning karate, all the way through i find myself mouthing look at what the instructer fella is doing and listen i must look like a mad woman LOL, i know at school when she is struggling with concentration they use pecs with her and this has helped her loads as she is very much a visual learner, i could do this but i feel that a sign would be draw less attention to her.

Just had a look in my "Lets sign" book and no listing for Shiatsu or therapy. The closest I could find is the sign for relax, which goes: Thumb tips of closed hands on chest then hands spring forward and open.

Could perhaps combine with finger spelling the first letter for other types of therapy. Sorry not much use.

Good looking:
Do a "thumbs up" sign. Now take the two fingers closest to your thumb and hold them horizontally next to one of your eyes. Think of it as a line of sight going from your eyes.

Good Hearing:

Thumbs up sign again, then put a cupped hand to the ear, as though you were saying "what did you say?".

Lol - Jimjams - my mum's like that too. She spent the WHOLE of last week cajoling and coaxing DS2 to sit on the loo - and she's brilliant at Floortime! One of his tutors is good at getting him to sit too - but that's because she's a huge authority figure for him - he does everything she says and sharpish . Unfortunately she's leaving this week.

We've been very lucky - two tutors for a whole year and one carrying on. I'll miss this one though - even if she is very high maintenance . I'm as scared of her as DS2 is!
