DD is 3.5 and has very little speech but will make it knon that she is uncomfortable when her nappy is dirty.

Am I mad trying to potty train her? Should I wait and whats the best place to start????

DS toilet trained at 3.5 with very limited speech - his method of communication of needing a wee was to take himself off to the toilet rather than say anything to me! so it is possible to toilet train without speech, just less straightforward. You might find she's not quite ready yet - as being aware after she's done it is probably the earliest stage of the process- awareness/control BEFORE doing it is what you are after. DS was never really interested in the potty - he learnt by copying me on the toilet.

SO do you think I should just wait?

I'm waiting for some help from the HV but the useless cow woman still hasn't got back to me despite 3 messages in a week.

I've been putting her on the potty whilst she watches TV before bathtime and it's been successful inasmuch as she's wee-d and poo-ed everytime (to much applause and fanfare ). Is that a start or just coincidence??

Don't forget to put a folded towel in the buggy so if she does have an accident she won't be stuck in a wet buggy.
