DH has had breakthrough with DD

Sorry, been so ill and fed up (now have chest infection- lovely) haven't been focusing on the positive! One positive thing about the Xmas break was that DH fell in love with DD again. He's been feeling very distant from her (as I think i've said on other posts) but he totally bonded with her again and spent much of the break playing 'please tickle me' games with DD enraptured. And I overheard him talking to his auntie about her and he explained her difficulties so well and was so positive about her small but significant achievements. This is a real breakthrough for our family

I am glad he is feeling closer to dd.

It does seem to take men longer to see the size of small steps.

Ah, thanks for lovely messages. I think it has taken him longer to re-adjust to it all. Mainly, I think, because he doesn't spend much time with her as up working in London long days etc. So then he feels distant and doesn't know how to interact with her and the months go by and he feels more distant... She was always such a daddy's girl before her autism became more apparent. It is so lovely to see them reunited! Hurrah!

Thats great news .
I'm so happy for you and your dh. Tbh where we're concerned its my dh who seems to be coping/accepting a lot better than me. I'm gradually getting there, but I still dont feel that I've quite bonded in the way that I did with ds1

Hope you'll feel better soon. Being under the weather makes everything so much harder to cope with doesn't it?

That's great JakB . I think it is similar for my dh in a way. He works away from home a lot so doesn't get to really 'know' dd. I think that makes it tough on all the family.

Hope you feel better soon. We have all been minging here with one thing after another. I'm not good at ill .

Hi Socci, sorry, been AWOL and ill again! (this year is not getting of to the start I envisaged). DD was diagnosed at 27 months. We knew something was 'significantly' awry at 16/18 months.
