DFG grant funding

Hi all,

Looking for some advice in regards to the DFG for my DD who is 3.

We are going to need extensive work done to our house in order to have a downstairs bedroom and wet room for DD. It will unfortunately go quite a way over the 30k and we will be funding the shortfall.

I've read a lot of horror stories about how long the DFG can take before building work is even started never mind completed. Also lots of horror stories about the workmanship and the builders councils choose.

My question is.. Is it possible to be given the 30k straight from the council to us for us to the add to and choose our own builders etc? As well as adding on some work (this bit paid extra us) which the council might not consider necessary?
